I'm so tempted to look him up, the only thing I can remember is that he won the tennis. Might be enough of a clue for someone else to work it out

I'll give it another day or two.

Ok. It was John Pius Boland of the Bolands Biscuits family, winner of the tennis singles and doubles at the Athens Olympics 1896, and later Nationalist M.P. for South Kerry. His daughter Honor Crowley was later a FF T.D. for South Kerry, taking her late husbands seat.

Now, name the only All-Ireland senior hurling winner who was also an Olympic champion.

    Sorry. I was away.

Edmund ( Ned ) Barrett of Ballyduff, Co. Kerry was on London's All-Ireland winning hurling team in 1901.

He won a gold medal as part of the City of London Police tug-of-war team in the 1908 Olympic Games in London. He also won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division of the freestyle wrestling competition at the same Olympics.

Name the country singing cousin of President Jimmy Carter.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,725 ✭✭✭donegal_man

Since nobody else seems interested I'm going to guess at June Carter Cash of the famous Carter singing dynasty.
Also the only country singer named Carter I can think of.
