It is embarrassing and pathetic the only consolation is that the junkie scumbags are usually too caught up in their own dramas to bother the rest of us - still not pleasant to see of course.

There are other cities that have similar problems to ours but I think one difference here is that people live right in the city centre or attend one of the clinics around here and are therefore out on the main streets all day every day.

In a lot of other cities the problem is more hidden as the junkies / whoever are out in the suburbs on sink estates
So tourists don't encounter them except maybe around train stations and places like that

It does happen though..i grew up on a road where there were a lot of people's parents from other parts of the country who suddenly started drawling like smackheads and affecting a funny,chicken walk.

A lot of these chracters would have neutral accents verging on posh but wanted so badly to fit in they were talking like the bastard offspring of Ronnie Drew and Shane McGowan.

What the gards need to do is move them on,this approach of moving them on (yes i know they end up on another area)..BUT ,it shows the junkies THERE BEING WATCHED,they mightnt be so brave comitting acts of violence with the gards (knowingly and known to them) actively watching them.They will have it in the backs of their minds when getting up to stuff..
Or they could go the zero tolerance approach and arrest them on the spot throw them into temporary custody for a few hours to cool off,theyd be needing their heroin so theyd be quick to move on themselves once they see the cops coming..

Well captured video was delighted to see to absolute a** holes get what they need a good kicking. I understand the 2 big guys gave them a good going over but this could have saved them as I have had a lad flash a blade at me before on parnell square west cause he walked into me and I did'nt say sorry I still stood up to him and his pal dragged him on.. If you live in A) and work in and travel the same narrow path each day it's possible that in your life you have never seen a streetfight in Dublin.

If you go beyond that narrow band of experience you will see trouble fairly easily.

I have seen trouble in the streets of Dublin many, many, many times & I am not even in town that much thesedays. I really find it hard to believe that you could live in, or work in, or socialise regularly in Dublin City centre and not have seen a streetfight.
