I really need a C2 in German. Got a C3 in the mocks and am hoping to push everything up a grade or two. My oral went really well and I've improved so much on the aural, so I really am hoping for the best. :)

Does Unwetter mean thunderstorm as well? I think it does but I feel like I might have gotten that mixed up.

How much do you guys usually write for the letter? It's usually about 6-700 words for me, can't seem to write less.

Certain prepostions always take a certain case like
    Dativ:
aus, bei, mit, seit, nach, von, zu, gegenuber

    Akkusativ:
fur, durch, ohne, um, gegen, entlang, bis

    Genitiv:
    trotz, während, anstatt, wegen, ausserhalb/innerhalb

So if one of those prepostions is in front of the noun, you don't need to work out who is the doer or the subject because the noun is always in that case.

Entlang can also be a postposition when accusative ("Den Fluss entlang") or a dative preposition ("Entlang dem Fluss") :)

Did a practice aural earlier and got 70/80, delighted! :D Much much MUCH better than the 48/80 I got in my mock! :P

True, I didn't distinguish between post- and prepositions.. :)
I've never seen entlang used as a Dativ preposition? We would have used 'am Fluss entlang...' or 'an der Strasse entlang..' In which case it's not the entlang, it's the an that is taking the dative. Would both of these be correct..?

As for the length of the letter, I think it would be hard to get all the content and expression marks with just 160 words.. That seems very short.. I also write about 600 words and think that is a safer bet. It's really the only chance you get to write the German you know so I'd say write as much relevant material as time will allow.. :)

Does negative marking exist in the German aural, does anyone know?

Nope! You start at 0 and it's all uphill from there. :D

I desperately need an A1 Friday. Can somebody tell me what I need to study to get it? I'm pretty good at German, got 83% in the mock. I also feel I got at least 90 in the oral. I'm just not sure what to study for the Ausserung or letter, and I never seem to get more than 55 in listening. Any tips? Anyone? :/

Predictions have already been proven to be pointless in the LC this year so theres little reason to do it.

I don't think you can really predict anything for German? :)
There will be two comprehensions, a grammar exercise, a letter/picture and a discussion on a theme. There are no specific topics on the syllabus so it's anyone's guess as to what will come up in these.
You are better off learning general phrases and expressions in my opinion.. You don't really need specialised vocab for any section, it's not expected. Maybe go over the grammar and possibly weather vocab as that is a guaranteed question in the news in the aural.. ?

Anyway have an idea for what the ideal timing scheme is? I'm a bit worried I'll run out of time in the letter.

What are the types of things that can come up in the grammer section/most likely to come up?

    Prateritum
    Relative Clauses
identify the gender, case and tense of a noun
Change a sentence into a different tense
    etc.

about 35 minutes per reading comprehension, 15 minutes for the grammar, 25 for the Ausserung, 40 minutes for the letter. :)
