No you don't need illuminated scope but it be a little perk if you had one.
The better your scope the more you will see with it and it works best in total darkness. Hope that is of help

I'd say it will look like a serious light sabre if you have the same mist and ****e as we are having!

    Well lads.
After reading almost of all the posts i am pretty determined to get one after a couple of nights of lampshy foxes and rabbits

Should i get the one from china
    http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ie/viewitem?itemId=140885694177&index=9&nav=SEARCH&nid=03565922297

Or should i get the one from the uk
    http://www.sports-2-go.com/hi-power-optimus-ld-50-sub-zero-green-laser-hunting-or-rescue-designator-25-30mm-mount-171-p.asp

I know the one from chin dosent have the manufacture make on it, but i think it would be eaiser if there was something to go wrong to deal with fell in the uk

    Look forword to your opinions.

Yes mounted it on the 6-24x50 4200 elite and took it up the back garden. Adjusted the laser zoom to match the scopes zoom ie so it filled up the view thru the scope. Could pick out a telegraph pole at 350y handy enough that I felt I could take the shot as well. I forget what zoom the scope was set at.
    Looking good so far

Wait till you are looking at a fox through it and you can see every detail on its body at that distance

I got an optimus ld 50 a couple of weeks ago. When i turn it on from cold it is at id say 50 % brightness and after about 30 seconds i get a sudden increase in power to full brightness.
Is this faulty or is it the same for the rest of you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 218 ✭✭kfod

has anyone else had problems with the optimus one in the cold?

Green lasers need a little bit of time before they get to full power so thats why it gets bright after a few mins

A few times i slipped up were i was star gazing at the fox through the scope and left it too late for the shot, its just what ever part of the brain takes over when your watching the fox move around so clearly in pitch dark like your watching night vision on a documentry, red illumination on the scope works great with these lasers also

If I get one soon i might nab you for abit of that material. I'll post you a few bob for some. I had other job for the neoprean too. Do put up an image when you get time to cover your light. Is it dark material?
