Just be careful Clive with the 18650 battery , i tried the one from my led lenser but it did not work because of the contact in the picture below, the contact on the cap is lower than the surrounding black plastic ring so the battery can not touch so if you are going to go down that road you will need to bridge that gap, not a major hassle just something you need to be aware of.

I already have the 18650 rechargable batts here so I'll give them a go.

S&B long gone. As with all/any of the bits I'm selling I like to give a good/fair price and then the stuff will shift. :):)

they are the same laser Clive ,they just get the optimus sticker when they get to England, ordered another one my self:D

Have you used yours in cold weather & how did you get on, the ND3's issues all seemed to be problematic with the Irish cold weather.

Have not got this up & running yet no time lately ,long story ?...I have this Laser Genetics ND5 a couple of years now & it has never let me down. Don't get all the negative feedback on em but hey different strokes.Brought this out on top of the Nightforce 8-32x56 illum scope I bought off of Ezri a couple weeks ago.Got to say any foxes up to 300-400 yards will not have a prayer. Here she is mounted off of a mount I got from Moby30 last year, rock solid on the 30mm Tube not so much for a 1 Inch. Now got to zero this beast the weekend.

The build quality on the real one that Constab2 is far superior, but the beam from the optimus one is actually better when you put it on flood it covers a larger area, the comparisons that moby30 done in the thread sort of sums al the types up.

+1, it's class. What is it constab?

Custom 204 built on Remington 700 action with a Lothar Walther barrel the stand is a Caldwell Deadshot rest(tripod) only for use from a hunting blind ,kneeling or sitting its too heavy a rig too carry around the hills. So find a high vantage point & snipe the rifle builder reckons with the scope 5-600 yards is not an unreasonable expectation just waiting on a custom mod for the barrel & its hell for leather .its too loud without a mod wake the dead the shagging thing would especially with the break.I had a Zeiss on it but did not like it the Nightforce suits it imo its a real one of a kind.

Thats why I love My little 535mm Sako M74 rebarreled to 22-250 AI - reamed for 80's lives mainly on 52 & 55's for vermin work but loves the 77's for 600 yard play, 9.75lb all yoked up, simple point and squirt ish up to 350 meters for longer take 25 sec to calc distance, dial in and then review.
Constab, have you tried it much without the muzzle break? Personally I'm not a muzzle break fan for any rifle above either 17 or 22 Hornet..........I used to find the 222 mag only slighty louder than the 233 but much more useable an accurate, hence why I'm having another sako L579 rebuilt as 222 mag built and reamed out for the 80 gr's too.

2 points I noted as per sellers description,

Class 111a diode ............Laser Gen / Optimus use the new generation 2M diode.

Op temp down to 5 Degrees................not -5 as per BSA / Optimus.

Just curious as to the performance of this unit.

No only less then a box of Federal 39 Grain Blitzking through it a couple of weeks ago then changed the scope & ordered a mod for it.The break is doubling as a thread protector & to be honest is there really for aesthetics more than a necessary tool.Never expected it to be as loud as it is, first time firing it frightened the bejaysus out of the lads with me even though we were wearing active hearing protection.I find it a lot noisier then the Sako 223 I traded for it.

Ok, I received my Optimus Laser Designator a few days back. It came really well packaged with a nice box with all the bits in it in pre cut foam. It comes with 2 x CR123 non rechargeable batteries but will also run of 1 x 18650 rechargeable.

Tried it out as soon as it got dark. The temperature was about 7C it was amazing! Honestly never seen anything like it. Really tight beam and you could focus it to fit the scope image and cantre it using a windage/elevation adjust on the laser mount. Easily illuminating sheep and cattle out to and beyond 400 yards. The illumination is completely different than a torch / spotlight. Maybe something to do with light intensity? You can see every detail.

The bad news is that we went out later that night after setting it up on the rifle. Temp was about 3C and it was away down on light output. Probably be ok out to 40 or 50 yards? We were looking at a couple of foxes at about 150 yards and you couldn't make out a thing. It was ok for about 1 or 2 mins if it was just out of the jeep and warmed up but then it would die away to useless.

I emailed the fella selling them and he was apologetic that it doesn't work below (at a rough guess, 5C or 6C) and offered a refund. I think however I will keep it and try to figure out a jacket or similar to keep it warm. Honestly the image from it is amazing.

I did have the camera with me that night but with the laser dying away I didn't bother with any pics. I will try take some the next night out along with a comparison to the Ucaller 170 and LED torches if I can get good enough pics.

Got one myself after seeing one in action but after setting it up it wouldn't work properly. It wasn't a very cold night either. I too rang the guy and he couldn't have been more helpful and sent me a replacement straight away. Works perfect and even on a frosty night will work but takes a couple of seconds to get to full power. I'd say your better off getting the replacement KFod as the nights are only going to get colder from now.

Was it from the same fella howya mike? If so that sounds like a better option alright.

Jees lads - call me asucker but Ive just ordered one. Seem like a reasonable crowd to deal with at least.

How long did it take for your ones to arrive? Also - it is advertised a sub zero so should really work at 3 degrees or thereabouts? Also looks like there's a fair number of dodgy ones - ah well, in for a penny.....

Saw on an airgun forum somewhere that rats cannot see the geen light. No matter how much movement of the beam they just continued on at what they were doing.

Looking forward to that as I've just found a new permission that's plagued with rats. Mind you at the rate theyre takin the poison, there probably won't be any left for me to shoot by the time the designator arrives!

Must be some job. Amazing too as it is severe on the human eye

Look into it while its on and you wouldn't do it again. Don't mean that in a smart way. Green is very sensitive to the human eye but not on animals I believe

I changed the batteries in mine aswell and it makes a big difference. Probably being over cautious here though lads but I see a lot of articles where lads have been arrested for pointing lasers at incoming aircraft at Dublin airport and at the copper chopper as they can blind the pilots and cause serious harm and I doubt the lasers they are using are anyway near as powerful as these so I guess I'm saying use them responsibly and avoid pointing them at houses and in the air etc. I know I'm stating the obvious but a few people seem to forget that these are lasers and not torches. Serious bit of kit all the same.

I used the 2 x CR123 non rechargeables that came in the packet and I also have a collection of rechargeable 18650's that I use for my LED lights.

Might be worth trying with some new CR123's though.

The fella I shoot with lives about 2 miles away as the crow flies, his house faces across to mine. He shone the laser over towards me and when it crossed my eyes you would have to blink / look away. I'd imagine trying to land a plane and some muppet doing that would be seriously and dangerously distracting!
