Also, got Kerbdogs old but still great 42" plasma today, and the contrast ratio is outta sight, very pleased!
Now to play a bit of Rez HD on it!

Full HD high end (at the time) plasma screen is that :) it will also act as a heater for a room. Must dig out my old Pana 32" CRT. A little bit of weight lifting is in order.

    On a seperate note, anyone make/use Retr0bright?

Sadly, no games for me as the TV is occupied by kids watching films this evening, bummer.....

Eh, you're the parent! Tell them to GTFO and go to bed!

    That's what I'd do anyway.

Haven't bought a Gameboy Colour game in years. Plus anything with 'DX' in the title is an automatic purchase. :pac:

In terms of Gameboy carts, was the DX to signify psuedo-colour compatibility with the Super Gameboy or something?

My favourite part of Link's Awakening DX is the 'colour' dungeon - featuring a variety of colour themed puzzles. It's so wonderfully absurd when you think about it :pac:

God I hated that dungeon. It seemed every Gameboy Colour game had to have some colour related puzzle shoehorned in to show how amazing colour was. The terrible coloured box puzzle in Metal Gear Solid Ghost Babel was another example.

I know its not videogame related but very happy with this pickup yesterday. Apparently the horzu German Beatles releases were of a much superior quality to the parlaphone released in the UK as they took raw uncompressed audio from the masters to press their records.

The record itself is also a funky yellow vinyl with bits of blue mixed in. Its a pity about the water damaged sleeve but I can overlook that for the price.

Its lost all of its collector value due to that damage but its a decking brilliant album, listening to it as we speak. Audio quality is amazing.

Won Sonic CD and Road avenger on ebay. Both for the Mega CD. Paid a little more than I wanted to for Sonic CD (€40) but glad to have it!

Got three things today. The first was a s-video cable for the N64, for my NTSC console since the modded cable is too dark on it. Works wonderfully and only 3.50 from hong kong.

    Next up is this:

Last was Super Godzilla for the Super Nintendo... hmm.

Do consolegoods not do the NTSC N64 modded cable anymore?

Nice GET! on the Snes, afaik its region modded too is it?

    It's modded alright.
I now have a PAL Snes that's fully region unlocked, full screen on everything.
Only issue, as I've mentioned is the slot is too small for US carts!
I'm torn between dremelling the life out of the casing or suffering the indignity of an adapter of some sort.
    Thoughts?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

Use an adapter, the cart widening mod never looks good...ever.

If I had my head screwed on I'd have gotten the US model properly region modded by Kerb and so had no worries about the width of my slot....

.... width of my slot. :D nice.

Anyway missed the delivery yesterday of my PS1 Namco Arcade Stick.
Arrived home to a slip of green post office paper, wasnt pleased.

Picked it up this morning in the post office though and by god it looks class.

Absolutely love the yellow stick and buttons. They just jump out at ya.
It looks in great nick as well, slightly faded but nothing a bit of love and attention wont fix.
Proof will be in how it plays though. Fingers crossed its ok. They're generally reliable from what I hear so hopefully its been looked after throughout its lifetime.

    Roll on 5pm.

    Pics to follow after work...

    ps...

I may have missed my Arcade Stick yesterday but they did manage to put Ferrari 355 for the PS2 through the letter box yesterday so it kept me busy last night.
I have such good memories of playing this in the arcade years ago and no it didnt live up to that with the joypad. I still enjoyed it but hopefully a steerin wheel will bring it closer to the arcade experience when I get a few quid together.

He does still one and I have one that does a good job with the PAL console. The problem is it's too dark on a US one so had to get a normal s-video cable for it.

The one thing uglier than a PAL Snes with a widened cart slot - a stock US Snes :pac:

The US Snes is a thing of beauty in my view and far nicer than the crappy famicom/pal one.

    What's the best looking console?

3DO FZ 1 is indeed cool but I think the compact GameCube has the best design and I love the handle on the back. Some nice colors as well.

But he sells NTSC S-video modded cables as well as PAL ones, its where I got mine.
