DayZ Zombie Mod for Arma 2

Just after having the most intense game of Dayz yet. (Wasn't on boards server)

I teamed up with two random guys (thankfully didnt shoot me) at Cherno, as I said I needed help and was by the Cherno apartments. They obliged and we started skulking our way around looking for supplies. We get to a corner cafe in the center of the city and some hacker spawns in a helecopter (with rockets and machine guns)

The chopper knows where we are and keeps pulling zombies to us so we leg it out after a shootout with the zeds in the cafe and head to the church. As we are about to run in from one side, so do two other survivors run around from the other side. They run in first and we start battling it out (us 3 outside shooting inside the church at the other two, chopper shooting overhead and zombies all around us). I shoot the one guy with the gun, as I run inside the other survivor is in the corner, clutching his hatchet. I don't shoot but he decides he wants to start taking chunks out of me and chases me around the church with the hatchet. The other two put him down.

As we are shooting off the horde of zombies, the guy in the chopper shoots the church into rubble with the rockets (basically the whole church got destroyed. We were under the rubble and had to revive one of the lads. We had to get out as the guy kept firing rockets into the church. We ran out and he's chasing us with zombies following. Out of nowhere another chopper is off in the distance and starts shooting the other chopper and gets him off us. We then had to shoot the rest of the zombies and kill afterwards kill a few sheep to get our bloods back. Suprisingly plentyful amount of animals in the area. I had to leave it at that it said my goodbyes

Edit: Never mind.... was getting shot at so just legged it away :P

Hardly ever come across SD stanag mags. I have an M4A3, and I've had to limit myself to six mags, as I find so many.

ha i realised that after :P so i ran away and kept watch. Saw two guys moving in and didnt like the look of them so i killed them both. Went to check their bodies but one was still alive! Couldnt kill him because zombies were everywhere. But just as I was about to he snapped out of his daze and capped me with his shotty

I dont mind though because he must of aborted after because of the zombies and i came back and got all my gear plus his friends Czech.

Just another day at Cherno..

BTW just saw couple people have a shootout in that same market and then 2 of them running off into the sunset together wasnt in position to take the shot

thanks to the príck who shot me twice on the boards server after only started my first game..I mean I was an obvious 2 minute newbie so what was the point of it?
3rd time I found myself an axe..and loads of zeds..;)

I don't get why people bother killing obviously newbs... You can see they have no gun and that. They must really be desperate for murders.

Well if you think of it this way.....

If you let them live they will find a gun.

They may eventually run into you.

And they will kill you for your gear.

Really its all down to who is bigger on the food chain.

I've a standard CCO and I'm using SD mags,I generally find another few before I run out.

Ummm....You do realise they can respawn right? And usually keep respawning until the end up somewhere they want to be, probably where you just killed them.

I'd rather someone that had a fighting chance myself, nothing satisfying about killing an unarmed survivor.

it really depends on where you derive your satisfaction.

I personally do not kill survivors without a gun, but on the other hand I will kill anyone I see with a gun on sight, hesitate and you'll die 99% of the time.

Some people started out without the killer instinct, after dying 99% of the time they now will most likely shoot first and ask questions later.

No,find enough to keep me going though. Im constantly moving between deer stands,choppers and other high loot area's.

Where was it the two times?
I had to axe someone to death there because they had a AK and were looking the wrong way

Lads, how do I start this? I was told boardsies got their server up?
I got arma 2 the very first disc version and I think I got it on steam too.

So short question: what do I do amd what do I need?

look for six launcher and it will automatically install day z for you

You also need operation arrowhead
Then download six updater
The updater will install everything else you need and search for servers for you

You need the Operation Arrohead DLC too. 15euro on steam.
Other than that you need the mod files obviously which are free.

Enjoyed running around with Kells earlier.
Didn't get as far as Cherno, was at that barn on the outskirts that had the 4 zombies inside, took them out with a hatchet, and then lured 5 more in and gave them the chop too The 6th one broke my legs though, but still managed to take out two more with a hatchet to the ankles while crawling to Cherno, before passing out and getting killed!

You need the operation arrowhead expansion as well as arma 2, make sure it and arma 2 are up to date. Then you need to download dayz mod and install it, go to the dayz forums for installation guide

I really apologise guys, as I'm pretty sure this has been asked to death, but it's a big thread and I want to avoid spoilers....

So is it worth getting into this? Noooo I don't mean is it a good game, it obviously is. I mean is it too late to be joining the party or is it still going strong? Is it welcoming towrds n00bs, or pretty brutal?

I've never played any of the Arma games before, but I just really fancy something different, and zombies and grim reality are right up my street.

I enjoyed it anyway.
I think I'm near enough to Cherno so i'll pop into the station/hospital pick up supplies for me and a mate then set up shop somewhere safe

It's brutal. You learn as you go along, but it's a steep learning curve. It's excellent though! Today was my first time teaming up with someone, and it's the first time I've been shot too. (Unrelated! Wasn't him that shot me!)
