Just had about 5 minutes of heavy rain with very large drops. Looking at netweather radar, the band of rain is extremely narrow (a kilometre wide, at a guess) but very long and is aligned in a perfect east/west orientation. It actually looks wrong on radar!!!

Was 3c this morning with frost across parts of outback Queensland including the tropics.
The ocean makes a big difference! Townsville (on the coast) had a low of 21c and a max of 26c while areas inland at the same latitude saw lows of -1c. Where I am had a max of 27c today. It gets warm during the day for a few hours but the sun sets between 6pm and 7pm and the temps drop rapidly!!

Coming up to 30 hours of persistent rain now, pouring down for the past 4 hours with a lot standing water about. Only 9.2C

I know its always poor around for around here but there's usually at least some sort of return for what's been moderately heavy rain for the past few hours
