Maybe try playing some Bjork really loud on the car stereo for a while.

    I play dead...it stops the knocking :D

No ye fecken smart-arses!! I've been looking into this knock retard thing and it turns out that the most likely cause isn't to do with petrol but could be noisy injectors as the knock sensor in the car is very sensitive.

It has been proven that ultrasonic cleaning solves this problem.

I always clean my jewels after a bit of knocking - don't you!?!:eek::eek:

    Congrats! :D

You must have been doing something out of the ordinary to be in this long though... I did chemistry an it dragged it out!

Roll on the summer and enjoy the time out :)

This bugger has to find work placement... *sigh

Thanks! Yeah, had Chemistry yesterday and Economics today. Wasn't too bad. Economics could go either way though. Not too bothered about going to college anyway so wouldn't be too bothered if I did badly.

Go for college! Tis great crack and you get to do so much... Don't end up like I did, just putting things back right while it's not too late! :D thinking of where I could have been by now sometimes saddens me :(

While not in college, I did work on a fúckton of cars though :pac:

On another note, wednesday afternoon drinking while trying to do oragami and Zep blaring on the stereo. Never a dull moment :pac:

If you did Automotive Engineering in college, you'd kill 2 birds with one piston :D

Ah it's just college was a farce for me. All I'll say is computer science. That was 12 years ago :o.

That's not gonna work - they should all show on start-up then go out.

Mine failed with the exact same symptoms (among other things) a few weeks back. I have an ABS sensor sitting in the passenger seat ready to fit that will hopefully fix the problem.

My lights are off on ignition, the only time they come on is at the 2000rpm mark, which is then the DSC pump kicks in, hence the fault.

Should get it done tonight, hope it fixes the problem.

Lol, didn't cop that. We were always a predominantly VW household for the 00's.

Got it done, works great! Prob a wheel sensor or ABS unit in your case.

    Anyone need MAF's for an E39 M5?

Have new boxed ones that I was including in the sale of the car.

I'm going to exclude them from the sale to bring down the sale price to closer to 11.

350 for both. Will shtick them up on adverts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,924 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

Your m5 still not sold? Damn. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭E39MSport

Nope. No interest whatsoever aside from 2 lads from the Irish bmw drivers site. One didn't like the rear tints and the other chap has to get rid of his M3 first. Sign'o'the times.

Taxed for another 2 months though so not too bothered at present :D

.. meanwhile, 1 throttle body successfully rebuilt on the 8er and the other in progress. Hope to have that car running as it should before the end of the summer.

Not buying a car, just because he did not liked tints sounds really stupid. You just needed to drop price 50eu so he could take it off in some garage. You would see is he just bull****er or for real.

Do you have a Link to your add btw?

Left the house this morning and got in the car. As soon as I turned the key the fuel light comes on! Crap! Says 40km to empty. 15km later I'm in the work car park, the fuel light has gone out and it now reads 50km to empty :D. It's amazing the difference a lean month can make to your fuel economy :p

I would say it is more about the hills on your way. The sensor is in some part of the tank and under the angle ( hills ) it may read different figures . I would just gO and top that bitch up! ;)

Have had the same thing many times, but a few weeks ago I got in the car, 22 miles left, drove home @50mpg which was 16 miles away, 22 miles left :pac:

I've said it before recently that this has been happening to me too. I could understand if I was dogging the car the day before then was on a motorway and the range went up but this is happening on the same daily route. Also fuel gauge rises slightly. Baffled by it TBH!
