Lads, the rear lights in my clio are a bit pants. Can I upgrade the bayonet to a led system? I'm thinking of something like like an ordinary bulb but with a led instead of a filament. (or does such a thing exsist?)

They do exist but the ones that are available don't project back into the reflectors so just look like one spot of light, rather then lighting up the whole lamp.

There may well be complete after market LED clusters available.

Edit: I'm not sure which model Clio you have but..... http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Renault-Clio-2-Type-B-1998-2006-Red-LED-Tail-Lights-/130643564446?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e6af6979e#ht_952wt_905

Good point there, I had not thought about it the reflection issue.

Clio MK1. I suppose I'll make do with the old style bulbs. Perhaps they could do with a clean out. Is their a higher wattage bulb I could put in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,313 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

Okay there seems to be such a thing as a dual filament 28.5W/8.33W bulb (no. 2397) which seems to work appreciably well compared to the old 21W/5W bulb.

I've had one person nearly rear end me in traffic and seeing super bright LEDS on modern cars has got me thinking.

Perhaps supplement it with something like this.

I broke the 1000 mile mark in the Saab I bought 5 weeks ago yesterday, and I have never been happier driving a car :D

Did anybody watch DIY Brides of Franc last night? A biker couple who got married in Mondello, very good fair play to them!

Haven't seen it yet but recorded it, heard it was very good

Got first hand experience of Lying down in the back of an ambulance last night.

(damn you Ulser ! With my toothache combined ! )

For some reason I thought it would be really bumpy and unpleasant but it was actually quote smooth

Didn't get a look at the front of it but I think it was a merc. (very new anyway)

Probably wasn't as bumpy cos we didn't have the flashy lights and noise on :(

Still fun all the same :D (except for the gf :O )

Lads, just wondering how often an oil change should be done on a Saab 9-3 TID? I've put 7k on the clock since I got it three months ago. Ta.

Got up today and the pain is mostly gone. Looks like I just needed to rest it and it was just sprained.

I'd do it 10-15k, not sure what Saab recommends though.

Hey all, not much of a chatter on here, but in case of anybody not seeing my other thread, anybody know of any decent s60 T5's for sale?

On the lookout for one after selling my E46, although budget is only €2k, but I've seen some out there for that.

If anybody sees one can ye point me in the direction of it please :) , can repay you in a spin of it at a later Motors meet :D

Some dick you are! That's not even bronze!

The color your looking for is Mazda 23F or Opel 40m(This code may be wrong). I spent a bit of time yesterday in the body shop trying to figure the bronze color rays wheels come from factory. Those are the two code i found on the internet and they seem to be close.

It's probably under my nose but all I can find is the full service recommendation of 30,000km. I was thinking 10k myself. I do alot of short trips in between the long ones so wondered if it should be earlier (I've never owned a diesel before). I'll have a look on the Saab forums aswell. Cheers.

    Lads, fast question:

In Astra OPC they refer to turbo as in allways on or always off. What do they mean by it? It suppose to be bad. Does it mean it has some separate valve for turbo intake? Can anyone explain it to me?

Is that what the 'sport' button on it is for?

Do you mean, if you got it off, you can have it as n/a car with reasonable mpg? And if you want go nuts you, can get turbo in? Sounds weird.

The sport button on the OPC firms up the suspension, improves the steering and increases the throttle response. That's what I was told by a owner when he bought it anyway.
