I assume they are referring to there being a decent bit of turbo lag? So in the low revs the car doesn't pull very well, and then when the turbo finally spools up you get a sudden rush of power.

Correct from what I know. It has a much "peakier" power delivery than some other Turbo cars. Once you get the revs going and the spool up has happened, the fun times begin along with the mega torque steer and inevitable flaming wreck :D (I kid :P)

It's probably under my nose but all I can find is the full service recommendation of 30,000km. I was thinking 10k myself. I do alot of short trips in between the long ones so wondered if it should be earlier (I've never owned a diesel before). I'll have a look on the Saab forums aswell. Cheers.
No harm in an oil change before it's due, some harm in an oil change after it's due!! I'd say 30k kms is a bit long, particularly if the car is a little older.

maybe, it is really weird to be honest. a few reviews said this on or off turbo thing and i cant understand wtf they mean. if that would be pure turbo lag, then might aswel they could say it?

Cheers, I'd been watching that on DD alright. Looks very nice, but 2 things got me, NCT expires in August (seller could well do it 3 months early, which would give another year), which worries me. Could be few things up with it.

And it's an auto. Would prefer a manual.

Thanks for the heads up though :)

They aren't talking about the turbo actually being on or off.
The description is often used to describe the power delivery of the OPC as the turbo doesn't spool progressivly, you put your foot down and the turbo spools suddenly.

With 18" Monza's 5 doors look ok i guess, can't find what im after so will prolly settle for something like this and put money i save towards an upgraded intake/exhaust system, 5 door probably easier to live with too.

Also anyone ever used Motorcheck Inspection, if i find the right car might opt for that if seller is willing to let me take car for 2h

I did when I got mine. Can't say it's particularly great value, (€35 for a computer to check a database ) but having the peace of mind that it's not going to be lifted off my driveway because some dick didn't pay his finance is almost worth it.

Oh that full check i will do regardless but i meant the actual 90 minute car inspection for the extra 160 odd euros.

Ah right OK, I just got a mechanic friend to inspect mine, so can't really say tbh, but I would say a decent inspection would be worth while on one.

I have a friend who i can bring along too, not sure if he has VAG.com tho but just incase i find the right car and he isn't available it might be worth the money.

That being said it's annoying that you can't do the actual backround check before paying for the inspection as what good is the inspection if you find out in the report it's been clocked/has outstanding finance

Sorry don't know where to ask this it's a question for Volvo'ers

    I have a 2011 Volvo S40 as a temporary car for a few days.

How do you disengage the child safety lock on the back doors can't find the button to do this even when car is parked.

Have to open them from the outside atm.

    Thanks

Could be on the door as its open where the lock mechanism would be ?

So between outside and inside of door

Cheers Rob yea I found a catch there alright which I pulled up.Now I can't get it back to its original position cause the back door won't close now lol.

Maybe the child lock is just broke on this car.

It's closed now but I'm guessing there is a way of doing this from the front.

alot of buttons on this car but only the front doors open from inside when the lock button ie set to unlock.
    It's a bit silly.

There was for sale on enthusiast forum a savage r32 skyline last night. It was only 4k eu and very very clean.
Unfortunately it was sold in less then few hours.
As much as I want to stay away from dark force, it is still sucking me in. :( 2.0 tax, reasonable hp, better mpg thence skyline was. Way lower then budget. I was sold for it. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Compton

Saw that r32, looked unreal tbh. Snapped up in a few hours just shows how good it was.

Theres an r33 there too but not as nice.

Nah, I would not go for r33 just for tax alone. R32 would fit me perfectly. I don't do big milage. Good power, good ish mpg. RWD. I would have payed full price and pay him for petrol and ticket back too. :)
    That r32 was unreal alright.

@ ShadowHearth, have you got a link to get a look at that Skyline?

(even if it's sold, if link was saved it still comes up :) )
