Without disrespecting Everton fans, wouldn't Fulham to Everton be a sideways step for Dempsey, surely if he moves it will be to a bigger club?

I'd say Martinez is better but there's nothing in it really.

Martinez is a super player and IMO, exactly what United need. Defensive minded, but absolutely gifted on the Ball. i dont think however, united would be an attractive proposition for him.

will he and Munian be in the Spanish squad for the euros? I also really like the look of Iteraspe from Bilbao also...he probably would cost alot less than Martinez.

I havent seen much of him tbh, how good/potentially good is he?
    Should we believe the hype?

Think I've talked about him a few times already in the United thread, amongst the Bundesliga and Liverpool thread. But to answer your Q here..

I've been pulling the Kagawa bandwagon for 2 seasons now from the gambling forum to here in the soccer forum :) He's an excellent, very intelligent footballer and is capable of improving even more. He is far more talented than the good but very much overhyped fellow countryman, Honda at CSKA. I rate him very highly if it wasn't already obvious(!) and the reported fees being brandied about is a steal even if he does have a year left on his contract. I've very little doubts he'll be an valuable player for whatever club he does end up, I just hope it's not United. If I'm honest, if I were a United fan I'd be wanting a Martinez, M'Vila, Belhanda, etc instead of him. An attacking midfielder however good he is, is not what is needed going from what I've seen myself and heard of other United supporters.

a creative midfielder is first priority. look at the difference scholes has made since he came back for instance, before that united were flat and playhing awful football for 5 months apart from 3 or 4 games.

what do you class scholes as, in relation to Kagawa, are they a similar type of player, or completely different?

to be honest, united need somebody like Martinez AND an attacking midfielder. also, why do you say you hope its not united, do you think he is not good enought?

Kagawa is an attacking midfielder or a support striker at a push if you will depending on the formation. Anywhere else played is wasted IMHO. He could probably do a job out on the wings if need be but his influence is there for all to see when he has a free role from the middle, be it drifting out to either wing, coming short to pick up the ball or even playing as a false No.9 at times.

If Kagawa played CM with a defined role that from what I've seen some in the United thread are guessing he might do, watch him be overrun. He's isn't great defensively and at times is quite lazy ie: letting players drift past him without picking up the run or not bothering with a challenge. That's probably my main flaw regarding him.

Scholes is a CM, pure and simple. But, he can play other roles too if need be even despite the age.

As for the last part, I'am a Liverpool supporter too ;)

Vieira is at the PSG - Lille game on at the moment, there watching Hazard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Hazard's price is going up with every game he plays at the moment. After going a goal behind to PSG he scored the equalising penalty and then set up the second to put Lille 2 -1 in front.

EDIT ;Bit of a show off tbh... ;D

Liverpool only have 20 million to spend on transfers this summer according to ESPN today so that rules out Grant Holt. :(

That might be the case, but FSG are very prudent and will factor in things like the wages that Maxi, Cole, Aquilani and Kuyt etc. are on if sold. They are all high earners so we're not talking pocket money. They'll look at money saved over the course of those contracts and will likely see fit to invest further this summer if it means saving money long-term.

Yeah and I'd assume whatever money they get from selling on any player during the summer can be reinvested, topping up that 20 million.

I dunno how the club are doing but would the announcement take some heat of the club itself?

Would have loved the have seen Podolski at Liverpool, best of luck to him filling Van Persies boots.

Appparently we've signed a 22 year old called Romain Amilfitano from Remis who are a Ligue 2 outfit.

Have no clue about him at all. Found this video on YouTube though.

Fully agree with this. Kagawa is a fantastic player but play him in the middle of a flat 4 midfield and he will be destroyed. He doesn't often track runners, he is lazy when your not moving forward and he can't tackle. On the attack his picks up great positions and is brilliant with the ball at his foot. His passing and through balls are top drawer and he also bags some as well. Best played with 2 defensive players in behind him.

Podolski to Arsenal, well I don't see the problem really with Koln announcing it right away as it was pretty much common knowledge for the past couple of weeks. Simply confirming what everybody knew.

Marin to Chelsea. Could be good. I think the price for him is ok. He is crap at times but has great technique and can be sublime in some games. I think what Chelsea are paying for is the potential to do what he can every week as opposed to sporadicly which it is at present. Could be a savage transfer could be a bad one. Either way he can play in wider positions which I think for Chelsea when your options are Salomon Kalou and Flo Malouda can only be good. What I think is strange is who bought him? Di Matteo? Is he taking the job and he signed him?

Hamburg will likely announce the signings of Rene Adler (free) and Arjtoms Rudnevs (Lech Poznan - est. €4m) when the supervisory board meets next Tuesday.
Any chance of Lucien Favre getting a big name job?

I expected him to take over at Bayern next summer, but with Heynckes leading them to the final he'll probably sign a new contract. Favre might wait it out because there's no point moving from Gladbach to another club in Germany unless it's Bayern.

    Go abroad? Doubt it.

They are 3rd from bottom. If Hertha win this weekend and they do not they are auto relegated. They have to win or hope Hertha don't. Best they can do is stay 3rd bottom and go through the relegation playoff.

I just think it is a mental thing. Announcing the Poldi deal seems silly ahead of a big match, everyone knew of course but I wouldn't have done it until after the season. He is hugely important to them and the city. It could effect the teams morale (but that is probably sh*te anyway).

United are going to be linked with EVERYONE again this summer.

Seemingly Gaitan, Hazard and Kagawa are towards the top of our lists.

We have also been scouting a lot of left backs so movement there seems very likely.

Would like a more defensive minded CM who is good on the ball (Martinez/Sahin) and a creative midfield threat (Hazard/Gaitan/Kagawa) along with a full back.

I expect a goal keeper, a striker and a right winger.

The club signed him, RDM didn't, imo.

Same with Lukaku, for example. I don't think he was a AVB signing - Chelsea were always after that kid, regardless of who the manager was at the time.

Really? Have you got a link to that? Preferably one that has quotes from Van Persie himself saying he's leaving? No, because it's only speculation. He may actually stay.

Or back to form and spend most of the season in the physio room.
