Show me your figures to back up this stat and I'll show you figures that show that Liverpool's average wage has actually increased in the last 12 months despite getting rid of massive earners.

Obviously someone in LFC didn't know about him.
Fair point about the wages but -afford to buy him....are you serious? 6 months prior Carroll was purchased for 3 million less.

I's not all about transfer fees. You do realise how much you pay Aguero over a 5 year contract compared to what you pay Andy Carroll? Ten's of million's. No way LFC could afford that

So what was the net spend in terms of milk?

    in the short term no,

carroll was a gamble that hasnt come good yet, but he may, he is young
    Ditto Henderson
Downing seemed like a good buy but he hasnt performed, the price paid reflected the fact that villa were reluctant sellers
Adam is a decent squad player

I would agree with the first three points, but Adam has proved himself to be out of his depth. He looked impressive at Blackpool because he was the main playmaker and his teammates seeked him out at every oppurtuinty. At Liverpool he had to work to get on the ball and has proved on many occassion that the game passes him by too often. Adam is not good enough for Liverpool.

Yes I'd like to see the figures, I presume they are from the season before last.

Well then it's not really a misguided argument.

I think we agreed that 75% was sour so that could be used for soda bread

not only that, he had 2 DM's behind him to cover for his awful defending.

Scouting Aguero, are you for real, every man and his dog has known for the past few years that the lads was top drawer, hence he was linked to real and chelsea and teams that could:
    a) afford to buy him and
    b) afford to pay him 200k a week

he wasnt ever going to sign for liverpool

He was linked to us before he went to Atletico, we didn't have the funds for him at the time. Eventually went to Madrid for around £12-15 million

of course liverpool knew about him and silva, both were constantly linked during rafas time at the club, liverpool played atletico 4 times in a year (2009-10) between champions league and europa semi final, problem was aguero was on £120k a week at atletico (which turned off a host of clubs), city are paying him 200k a week

You are missing the whole concept of exposure on the player, just one player.

Firstly, Aguero is a top player, never going to LFC.

Secondly, his contract at city will cost city 30 mil more in wages than the wages Carroll is on, over their respective contracts. Thats just one player, now equate that to a dozen or more.

Transfer fees are only part of a deal, what you pay the man every week amounts to more over full contracts., more than the amount of the fee.

Its not about affording to buy players, i could go out and buy a horse tomorrow good enough to get races all over the country but i wouldnt be able to afford to feed, house and vet the animal for the next few years.

The real question is how much of your milk would the horse drink. :D

I may be mistaken but aren't these figures taken from 2009-2010 season if you read where the figures came from. Would they liverpools accounts from this year.

Torres and Meireles for starters. Then there's Cole and Aquilani who were not regulars by any means but were in the squad as high profile players that you would expect to have been established first teamers and would want to be replaced with likewise.

That would mostly be "free" transfers, Jova, Maxi and Cole spring to mind. The club didn't have big money to invest so went for high wages instead. Big clear out last Summer as well so that figure will drop significantly.

Kenny wasnt even manager when these figures were taken which was supposed to be his orginal point.

Could be, I guess we'll see in time. I tried to check the united wages against the report that came out earlier this week, but couldn't find uniteds current wage bill in there. You'd need to need a degree in accounting to work out some of the stuff thats published in the financial reports.

It wasn't really my point, but I understand what your saying.
