TG4 webcam of the docks area....

Theres another camera pointing towards the entrance.

I am surprised that TG4 haven't hired a chopper for a couple of hours or gone out in a boat to meet the fleet.

The Volvo tracker has Camper well in the lead & the AIS has the opposite

They won't be in the Docks themselves until 2.15am or so.

These Volvo organisers have no idea how to manage events. If they had started the Lorient leg at say 9am we would all be watching in daylight !

Agree with that, they could have been docked at 5pm this Evening giving a huge crowd a chance to see them in, silly really

    Ohhh come now !

The course was set over 9 months ago and if they had hit a calm spot on the way from Lorient they could be finishing on Wednesday, or if the winds were on the nose they could be finishing tomorrow.

The winds are totally in the lap of the Gods.

Don't blame the Organisers for the weather !!!

Wasn't the first ETA Tuesday 6am to 6pm...? It's not really in their control when the boats get in...

Not blaming anyone just would have been nice for a daytime welcome, sadly work wont allow me to be there.

It is impossible to Judge what time they would get in at seems the sea isn't exactly the N6.
There only 20 nautical miles away and still anything could happen.

Indeed... if the wind dies completely they could be out there flapping around till morning.

Luckily that is not forecast... but you never know !

    ;)

been following the race on ais for the last while. it appears a couple of ribs are following the lead boat camper in. there was a third one following earlier but it seems to have disappeared off ais.

Wind is dying! not good for people down at the docks but fine for me sitting nice and warm at my computer :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,827 ✭✭✭✭Discodog

Just seen them passing Spiddal - really nice & there are lots of boats escorting them in & illuminating the winner's sail. The wind just totally died & they took an age to get from Aran to Spiddal.

In the docks and Camper has just passed the finishing line on black rock.
    A hell
Of a lot of people here in the docks
Another couple of thousand along salthill and clada.
    Epic.
