"When you've already had one coronal mass ejection storm, sometimes the next coronal mass ejection storm is faster to get here" , said Joseph Kunches, a space weather specialist at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

I was only saying the exact same thing to the wife last night.

A mass coronal ejaculation storm, would have been better movie.

I would love to see the Northern lights, its on my bucket list, but I would rather see them in the arctic circle, I hate you Ellis Dee.

It does make you think though, that if there was a massive CME which sent a huge solar flare our way. Then you can be certain the brainless fúckwits in the Dáil, wouldn't even know where to start with contingency plans. But I suppose in fairness, they would probably implement a new solar flare levy or something along those lines.

Were in for a bit of a blast of radiation over the next 48hrs.

An enormous solar flare is heading toward Earth and could disrupt power grids, satellite navigating, flights and the weather and it's going to get worse with more eruption on the sun due.

Not sure if we should be worried, might go to the pub just in case.

It should be a bit of craic if nothing else. :D

The electric window on my car won't close. :(
Fully opened and the motor is working just stops all of a sudden at a certain point...

Coincidence or is the world about to end?

    its about to end
More luck than anything else, just think about the distances and angle of projection.
93 million miles away the sun has to throw this solar flare at the exact angle, both horizontally and vertically and it has to be aimed at where the earth will be tomorrow, that's quite a shot!

You'll never hear about the thousands of flares that go in all the other directions.

    just like asteroids

When the big one comes we will not be given any warning.

Nah we will, a 2 day warning at the moment, now new tech will "listen" to the sun and that promises a weeks warning, but its the polarity of the ejections, some go through our magnetosphere while others are deflected away.

There are countermeasures our grid can deploy, like Earthing the excess charge, on less the surge is to great, but satellites will still be vulnerable.

Got in to my car this morning and when I switched it on the radio had reset completely, the time date and all the preset stations had reset to all zeros, never happened before so I am putting it down to the solar flare for sure.
