i like to change my phone every year, have the htc one at the moment and am looking to upgrade to the galaxy s5, xperia z2 or the new htc one.

seems like meteor are do their best to push me into a longer term contract, something i'm not willing to do

For anyone who is interested, I shot up to Newry today and picked up the new One in 3 for £459 (I think it's just over €550). Even taking into account cost of fuel, still a great price.

It's SIM unlocked, and only 3 bloat is up and down animation.

    Goes without saying, it's awesome.

Anyone else had an invite to the official launch of the M8 in Dublin City centre next Wednesday evening? Not quite sure how they got on to me, maybe through following htc Ireland on Twitter or being part of HTC elevate.

I know someone going and talking to a guy in htc today said there is space how did you get on to elevate did they release a code recently can you invite someone ;)

    Hi,
I recently changed from a S3 to a HTC One and love the phone.
In my work area there are different WIFI routers, the S3 when it was connected to WIFI and if you moved to a different WIFI area it picked up the stronger signal automatically and connected whereas i find the HTC stays on the previous poorer signal and I have to manually go into settings and change to the stronger signal. Is there anywhere in settings that I can set so it automatically changes to the stronger signal.
I am on Tesco mobile, but in the area I live i only receive Edge as the O2 masts are not 3G enabled, was thinking of moving to a 3 business Sim would I be mad as I read in the forums that 3 doesnt have good customer service.
    Thanks

Any ideas when Sense Six is going to be rolled out to HTC One M7 owners?

According to a man in the know that I know.....a matter of weeks.

If you can't wait, unlock and root your phone, and put it on now. I was running sense 6 a week or two ago before I sold my One.

Anyone else found their battery life is atrocious since the latest software update? I was up at 6.30 this morning, charged my battery overnight and it's at 20% with very little use. I'm charging it via USB for the past half hour and it's only maintaining it's level, not going up at all. Any suggestions for how to fix this? It's making the phone unusable.

Do a factory reset. Sorted my power issues after the last update

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,161 ✭✭✭tok9

I've genuinely never had an issue with the battery power of the phone.

Always lasts a whole day and even without charge will last until about 11 or 12 the following day.

Would I be able to restore it from backup then?

    Hi all,

Having big problems with my unlocked HTC One M7 at the moment.

I have the phone about 4 months, purchased brand new unlocked from an acquaintance who won it (he works for a large mobile phone chain). I used my Three SIM card with it, no problems, until about 6 weeks ago.

I noticed the phone had dropped signal entirely one day, no apparent reason. Having done a restart, I gained coverage again for all of 5 mins before I went back to "Emergency Calls Only".

I googled a bit, entered *#*#4636#*#* and ensured that CDMA/GSM/WDCMA/LTE auto was selected. The phone then picked up the 2G Vodafone roaming signal, but would not connect to 3G (I.e. the Three network).

This went on for a few days, very frustrating. However, my sim functioned normally in a friend's Galaxy S3. I contacted HTC who instructed me to post the phone, as it was under warranty, to SBE Ireland in Rathcoole. I explained the issue in depth with them.

Despite having a 3-5 day turnaround, SBE finally returned my phone to me this week after 28 days. The exact same problem was still present, they have only carried out a software update and a live call test (which will work fine from any network except Three).

I went to both Carphone Warehouse and Three stores, all staff agreed that the handset was faulty (other network SIMs work perfectly fine in the HTC, however any Three sim inserted has the same network dropping fault. In parallel, my sim worked fine in other phones).

I rang HTC to ask for a replacement under warranty. They said that replacements could only be requested though the retail agent in Ireland. Of course, I didn't buy it from a retail chain. So I am stuck!

In summary; phone was fine for several months, all of a sudden, fails to work with Three sim cards. I will presume this is related to the fact that Three have a roaming agreement with Vodafone for 2G services when 3G is not available in some way? Could this have anything to do with a 4G update?

I would be utterly grateful if anyone had any advice for me! Thanks.

Try just the 3g/2g option dont select the LTE one see if that does anything.

First thing I would've done is try a new sim card... then I would ask my carrier to check my back end settings to see if there was anything unusual on my account... It's highly possible that the pohone is not at fault...

Did you try another SIM in your phone to check if the phones works ok with another SIM?

Yes. Mine recently had slowed down dramatically, the auto complete for typing a recipient into a text message field was taking aaaaggess!

I did a HTC backup, made an sms backup also, and then did the factory reset a couple of weeks ago.
On power-up it asks do you want to restore, and your backup file is loaded. It was taking a few hours so I had to stop it mid restore, the loading messages part was taking too long, so I restored the sms backup separately. Almost everything came backup the way it was before I reset.

I've never had a battery problem, I find it brilliant in fact!

Yes, I went to the Three shop, they tried different Three network sims; the fault was present at all times with all Three sims, therefore the shop also agreed that the handset was faulty.

In relation to other comments, I have also selected 2G/3G only to see if that would make any difference, it didn't (i.e. ignoring LTE for the time being, which isn't a deal breaker for me.. I just want a functioning phone!:))

I have also contacted Three who have not sent me or changed any backend settings (the phone was unbranded, so Three did not have any software installed on the phone).

Summary; my SIM works fine in all other phones. All other SIMs do not work fine in my phone.

Phone fault then.....the shop usually has 3 attempts to fix the fault then they should offer a replacement if its still not fixed.

What did HTC say when you called them back? I think you will need to send if back again before they will offer a replacement...

One attempt is all that is legally required after that it is a replacement or refund.

I still reckon it could be a boh setting... There are all sorts of numbers/codes accosiated with your account, if one digit gets deleted, doesn't correspond corretly or gets accidentally changed it will mess up your service + its difficult to trace...

Did a reset and tbh its not a whole lot better.
I charged it fullly last night (not on the HTC charger though) and had it on battery saver from 6am till about 11am.
Listened to the radio via tuner or app from about 7 till 10.30 and just a few txts and the battery was down to 55% even though it was on battery saver.

Which apps do you have installed? I would delete all apps except for the essentials and see what happens.
