I'm kinda wondering how I would react if I didn't get a letter tomorrow, I have a rugby game tomorrow morn and my head isn't in it at all, and if I don't get a letter then I'm thinking its gonna be most definitely a waiting list, which will suck big time

I'm in a dilemma coz iv been offered another job to start at start of September but prison service is the one I really wanted. So it's a situation of do I take the other and then leave if the prison service comes up or do I decline it in the hope that the NIPS will come up? I think the latter is too risky just in case the call never comes!!

Going by this if they are trying to match up numbers to what left they only need another 150?

Seems there's only 17 per class but there was 16 classes ?

My oppinion, take the job and if the prison service comes up take it, you would be crazy to turn it down on the basis that you may get in, you know what though, we should all see what happens, we're writing ourselves off and you never know what the letter will say when we get them

About 550 though took the package so that would be about 200 odd more they would need if they were to make up numbers but I dunno if they will, taking over a year to get in, sod that lol

I think coz the AC was quite hard we are all assuming we are way down the merit list.

Just read the link - great find! Although I'm a little concerned that its mentioned a few times that they were the "last batch" of the recruitment campaign and am I right in reading that there's been two lots of recruitment campaigns totalling 600ish?! I could have read it wrong, it's early and been a long night with a baby thinking its playtime lol. If so then what would be the point in this recruitment process if they've met their quota, surely they wouldn't waste the money? I'm sure I've read it wrong.

Edit: yea I seem to have read it wrong lol my bad!

I took from it that they were the last batch of the previous recruitment process! I wonder what will make people fail a medical?

I think probably things like failing a drugs test, long term injuries (for example at the psni one they make u hop across the room on one leg lol), things like that. And the hearing test is probably quite important too I'd imagine. Roughly an hour til mr postman gets his daily curtain twitcher stalking him lol. If I get nothing today il be so disappointed. Hearing that others have received forms etc just makes me feel worse!

Nothing for me today. But then again if its being done in order of AC backwards typing, collating information and posting mayb 50 letters a day is quite a few. Especially given the security risk n making sure addresses etc is correct. The woman said everyone would hear within two weeks so I think we will all get forms.

Been thinking over weekend that in my case anyway I'm just disappointed coz there's a merit order n my patience isn't the best! But I think we have perhaps all been too hasty to be disappointed and accept it will just take time. Anyone with me?

    http://www.niassembly.gov.uk/Assembly-Business/Official-Report/Committee-Minutes-of-Evidence/Session-2012-2013/May-2013/Prison-Service-Reform-Programme-Update/

found this online. ..its very long but there's abit in ther about recruitment. ...says this is a small recruitment!! Doesn't give numbers. Also bits about different issues going on so abit of an insight into the role perhaps. It was in may of this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,161 ✭✭✭HighburyLad

Interesting read, the only qualm I have about that is when they state the small recruitment they actually say they want officers coming in over a couple of years, I'm not gonna lie, I want this bad, but I'm not waiting a year or two lol not when the psni are to open a big recruitment within a couple of months, hopefully if we're to get news soon, it's having a ball ready to roll rather than one that's in first gear going 2 miles per hour lol

@Highbury lad I honestly think we will be ok there's a terrible lot of surmising and overanalysing being done here

Very true lol, I think it was just my immediate reaction, when theres boardies who got word as well as everyone else's reaction who hadn't heard as "oh ****!" and not in the good "oh ****!" way lol, I hope your right, I suppose as said before only time will tell

I got mine on Wednesday posted off

@ted I think this is why we are all confused & a little anxious because I was told the other day just because u didnt get a regret and passed the AC in no way means ul get a medical. So you r a lot further forward than the rest of us it would seem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭Cubacuba

That's exactly it. Being in limbo and not receiving any communication whilst others have received regret letters and some are busy filling in vetting forms. Confusing to say the least!
