Got one myself at the weekend, first impressions are very good, it makes everything feel that u are squared up and it feels like it would be impossiable to flick the wrists at the putt. Well worth the 30 quid its cheaper than buying a new putter.

    Where did you get yours...McGuirks?

I picked one up too, must say I'm really happy I did. Certainly helps with the stroke, keeps it square and generally more solid.

It feels really good in the hands despite being a unconventional shape. I would definitely recommend it.

35e off the website and got posted straight away.

Is Harrington about to make this guy a millionaire.

Or is this guy about to make Harrington millions by getting his putting back on track with his nifty invention ....

Hopefully both! Although Harrington a nice bank balance, hope this guy gets his big break!

61 course record for Harrington and 21 putts with the P2. Not bad eh? Holed a few ridiculous putts from distance too. I think getting one of these is going to have to be a must this year :p

Heal-toe putters, flat grip putters, gooseneck putters, ultra short putters, belly putters, giant head putters, heavy putters, milled face putters, composite face insert putters, interchangeable face putters, bits sticking out all over the place putters, look the same as the €25 putter but cost €180 putters, offset putters, alignment lines putters, P2 grip putters.

Sounds like someone who's tried them all and is still useless! Would you rather everything stand still and no progression in the world of golf?! .......in the words of the Tayto advert " There's always one"!

Vested interest by any chance GoLow59?

Anyway. I putt well. With any of them. Maybe thats why I dont need to chase the illusion that a new wand, let alone its grip, has anything to do with how many I take on the green.

No vested interest, just that was a very broad assumption to make that these advances in technology make no difference to a golfer. If your blessed with a good putting stroke then lucky you, not everyone is including me. To say that it's an illusion that the putter you use makes no odds is amusing? Maybe for you it doesn't. But if you think that someone with a straight back straight through putting stroke will benefit from a heel weighted putter, not true in a lot of cases! Type of putter head, length, weight and even grip are a personal thing.....and if you can putt as well no matter what putter you put in your hands then you are very lucky.

in the highlights vid from copperhead yesterday you can clearly see PH using the P2 grip.

he holed 175ft of putts yest.

    coincidence?

Yes - pretty sure he's been using it for a while with less eye catching results

Agreed, the people falling over themselves that this is the next great thing are completely missing the point.

There is no doubt these grips and putters "can" make a difference but the gains are marginal because if you have sh1te feel/touch to begin with; no matter how much technology you have can improve that. It amazes me when I see guys taking about their Scotty giving them much a truer roll or some other bullsh1t; and then hit it 8 foot past the hole as their distance control is sh1t.

Not really Bigchap.... he has putting very well since he has been using the new grip in Abu Dhabi...it has been his GIR that has been hurting his scoring...... you need to be less cynical and acknowledge that this grip does work.... no disrespect but Paddy knows a little more about golf than posters on here!

Personally I have been using it for the last 4 weeks and my putting is really improving.... a lot more confidence on short 3-6 feet putts.

I'll know at end of season when I compare my puttings stast to other years

I'm just delighted that what seems like an ordinary Irish pro is reaping the rewards. Fair play to him I hope it's a huge success. It takes a lot of guts and determination to set up a business like that, especially now. There are not many good news stories like this doing the rounds in Ireland these days.

In fairness I have to give credit to Harrington too. He gave it a chance and judged it on its merits even though it wasn't made and marketed by a huge manufacturer.

I am also delighted to see an Irish pro come up with something like this and doing well for himself.

As regards the discussion of whether it works or not, if it feels good to you and you feel comfortable I think it can only be a good thing. Like every discussion we have on here re putters, whether it be a 20 year old piece of crap or a brand new Scotty, it it suits your eye and you feel comfortable with it, and holding it, and it gets the ball in the hole for you, then go for it!

Sure Harrington said the same thing in piece in the Independant about the grip 'Confessing he’d “no idea” of the science behind the grip, Harrington said: “I just like the bigger, flatter side against my hand. I feel I’m putting more with my right palm.” '

Sweeping statement of the year award - I'm sure the grip "works" as a putter grip. Many golf pros are forever trying different putters, grips, gadgets, gizmos in an effort to better their putting - often times they see an improvement(placebo?), it fades, and then onto the next one........come to think of it even more amatuers are the same!:P

Have you tried the grip BigChap......because if you haven't well then how can you pass comment as to whether or not it "works"? I'd love to know what your thoughts were on the 2-Ball putter when it first came out? Mallet head two white discs on the top.......simple stuff? Do you have an idea how many millions they sold at this stage and are still selling? Suppose it's the placebo effect again yes?! Think it might be you that's made the sweeping statement......if it works for Hacker111 who are you to question his own opinion and "experience" of the grip. #just athought

Case of the green eyed monster.

What are the implications of Padraig's fairly apalling putting yesterday for the merits of this grip? Is it now a crap grip? No. It's still just a putter grip that might suit some people. Best look at PH's putting stats at the end of the year and compare with previously to see if there is an improvement. Even then it would be difficult to isolate the grip as the key factor. If you like it use it. But whether it works or not should be indicated by your actual putting stats over an extended time, not your opinion after a few rounds.

To be fair, Padraigs recent upward curve in terms of performace and putting conincided with his changeover to the P2. Ok he had a bad round yesterday and missed some shockers. One swallow does not a summer make and one bad round doesn't rubbish the last few months.

Fair point about stats though. Some of us are excited at (a) the fact that Paddy might be back in the groove and (b) that a pro from Wicklow could hit the big time with it so forgive us for being bullish about the whoe P2 thing.

    Snake oil.
Are golfers the most gullible dreamers on the planet?
And why do otherwise intelligent, men in the main it must be admitted, switch off their brains, and swear blind faith when the next golfing miracle solution is dangled in front of them? But forget the experience a few months later when they move on to the next one. Harrington will likely ditch his in the not too distant future -unless he is being paid to keep it in bag.

What should one use to put this or any other grip on with ?
Is there any special sort of glue?
Is it easy to get on, as one of the things I have heard quite often with a putter grip is to make sure it's on straight or square
    Thanx

I found a piece of 2" x 2" lumber and hit my putts more accurately than my putter.

My next step is to go to this site and get what I need to add some jumbo grip to my putter. :)

    http://www.gamolagolf.co.uk/acatalog/Grip_tape.html

I might try the 2-Thumb grip as its most like a big lump of wood.
