Good idea alright, I have tried it out and your hands seem to set on club a lot easier ...haven't bought yet though!

Fair play to him.... hopefully it takes off massively......

Tried this grip today albeit not on my own putter. My wrists definitely felt more locked in position for a more solid and true stroke. Im gonna try it a few more times and then make the decision whether to put it on my own putter but first impressions were good.

A friend of mine got it on one of his putters and has given it to me for the week. I'm not sure where you could actually try it in a store. Perhaps give Wicklow pro shop a call and they should be able to tell you.

Well first impressions were good. I am going to try it out a few more times over the next few days but will more than likely be getting it on my own. Will use it for a full round tomorrow and report back if that is any use to you.

Oooh, I'm really tempted to buy one of these!! I have been having problems with the short putts recently and this might just be the thing for me!!

I just got one fitted to my putter during lunch. Wont be able to use it in anger until the weekend but it feels good just practising.
Got it in McGuirks for €30 and free fitting. I think it a decent price as its €35 from the website.

Does it come with any options in size? I use a midsize grip, might consider giving this a bash if it comes in that. No options available on website.

Ok, I'm struggling to work out if this is exactly what I need, or exactly what I dont....

My setup is not great, my hands too close to my body, so I end with the toe in the air a bit. I also come quite close to rubbing my left hand against my left thigh after impact. So what I need to do is to try to move my hands a little away from my body. Will this assist me? I'm more of a pendulum putter so the low hands are an issue. My feel for putting is usually that I am putting with the palm of my right hand, like bowling a ball. I sink my fair share of putts, but the short ones I can tend to pull or push.

If anyone has (informed) opinion or input on this I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

I was not offered any choice on sizings. Or colour for that matter. Luckily the white and black grip looks good with my Taylormade Corza Ghost putter.

    I thought that was expensive?

I got a Super Stroke Fatso Lite including fitting, including saving the old grip, before christmas in Halpenny golf for 20 euro. I would get it fitted and use it for a month or so (depends on how much golf you play) and then make a decision. The Fatso made a huge difference to my confidence over short putts, even though my stats are not overly more impressive; and as a result I spend less time setting up for the short putts.

As far as i know if is not much bigger than a normal grip had a thick grip on a putter and not too keen on it. The Grip on my 2ball needs changing so might try this.

Think I'm going to pick one of these up myself, I was doing a bit of putting today and just played around with locking out the wrists as the grip dose to see of if I could get an idea of the concept and I must say it worked fairly well. I think it's worth a go, (especially with the state of my putting at the moment).

I wonder dose it affect the lie of the putter in any way ..?

Anyone have an idea of the shipping times on it.? If I ordered tonight would it go in the post tomorrow.?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 GoLow59

As far as I know it only comes in one size. If the grip was any smaller it wouldn't be as effective and wouldn't keep the hands as square on the grip and square to the putter face.

It doesn't effect the actual lie angle of the putter, but it does make it feel a little more upright because of the wrists being higher at address. I ordered the grip nearly a month ago now and it was shipped the following day so no complaints!

I've used it a lot now and the difference in my putting is unreal!!! The greens aren't great given the time of year but I'm still holing putts. Very confident on putts inside 5ft, holing more from 5-15ft and leaving longer putts dead and are a lot closer to actually going in. I was going to get a lesson but decided I'd try this first and it's the best €30 I've spent in a long time. :) Knowing the results now I'd have paid twice as much for it. Top product and hats off to the guy!

I put it on an Odyssey DART mallet, but I've seen it on Taylor Made Rossa and a Scotty Cameron heel-toe weighted putters which were nice as well.

I work in a golf shop and these have taken off hugely, doesn't seem to fit right for myself but a lot of interest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 daveryan231

this grip has taken off well loads of people getting them done, to be honest though it just doesnt suit me at all but thats putting one thing will suit one person and not the other. try everything is my advice anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭heebusjeebus

I played 2 rounds over the weekend with it and I'm improving each time I use it. My putting aint great anyway but I managed more 1 putts in a round with the P2 Grip than with the old grip.
I feel like there are less variables to my swing now that my wrists are straight.
I should get better the more I use it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 432 ✭✭Hacker111

I bought one on saturady...have practised a good bit with it already...I needed to tweak my grip due to grip..... but so far results are positive...... I find it easier to swing the putter back and true on line ..... I'll know more in a few weeks.... €30 all in including fitting.

Got one myself at the weekend, first impressions are very good, it makes everything feel that u are squared up and it feels like it would be impossiable to flick the wrists at the putt. Well worth the 30 quid its cheaper than buying a new putter.

    Where did you get yours...McGuirks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,645 ✭✭✭k.p.h

I picked one up too, must say I'm really happy I did. Certainly helps with the stroke, keeps it square and generally more solid.

It feels really good in the hands despite being a unconventional shape. I would definitely recommend it.

35e off the website and got posted straight away.

61 course record for Harrington and 21 putts with the P2. Not bad eh? Holed a few ridiculous putts from distance too. I think getting one of these is going to have to be a must this year :p

Heal-toe putters, flat grip putters, gooseneck putters, ultra short putters, belly putters, giant head putters, heavy putters, milled face putters, composite face insert putters, interchangeable face putters, bits sticking out all over the place putters, look the same as the €25 putter but cost €180 putters, offset putters, alignment lines putters, P2 grip putters.

Sounds like someone who's tried them all and is still useless! Would you rather everything stand still and no progression in the world of golf?! .......in the words of the Tayto advert " There's always one"!

Vested interest by any chance GoLow59?

Anyway. I putt well. With any of them. Maybe thats why I dont need to chase the illusion that a new wand, let alone its grip, has anything to do with how many I take on the green.

No vested interest, just that was a very broad assumption to make that these advances in technology make no difference to a golfer. If your blessed with a good putting stroke then lucky you, not everyone is including me. To say that it's an illusion that the putter you use makes no odds is amusing? Maybe for you it doesn't. But if you think that someone with a straight back straight through putting stroke will benefit from a heel weighted putter, not true in a lot of cases! Type of putter head, length, weight and even grip are a personal thing.....and if you can putt as well no matter what putter you put in your hands then you are very lucky.

in the highlights vid from copperhead yesterday you can clearly see PH using the P2 grip.

he holed 175ft of putts yest.

    coincidence?

Agreed, the people falling over themselves that this is the next great thing are completely missing the point.

There is no doubt these grips and putters "can" make a difference but the gains are marginal because if you have sh1te feel/touch to begin with; no matter how much technology you have can improve that. It amazes me when I see guys taking about their Scotty giving them much a truer roll or some other bullsh1t; and then hit it 8 foot past the hole as their distance control is sh1t.

Not really Bigchap.... he has putting very well since he has been using the new grip in Abu Dhabi...it has been his GIR that has been hurting his scoring...... you need to be less cynical and acknowledge that this grip does work.... no disrespect but Paddy knows a little more about golf than posters on here!

Personally I have been using it for the last 4 weeks and my putting is really improving.... a lot more confidence on short 3-6 feet putts.

I'll know at end of season when I compare my puttings stast to other years

I'm just delighted that what seems like an ordinary Irish pro is reaping the rewards. Fair play to him I hope it's a huge success. It takes a lot of guts and determination to set up a business like that, especially now. There are not many good news stories like this doing the rounds in Ireland these days.

In fairness I have to give credit to Harrington too. He gave it a chance and judged it on its merits even though it wasn't made and marketed by a huge manufacturer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 393 ✭✭BillyBoy

I am also delighted to see an Irish pro come up with something like this and doing well for himself.

As regards the discussion of whether it works or not, if it feels good to you and you feel comfortable I think it can only be a good thing. Like every discussion we have on here re putters, whether it be a 20 year old piece of crap or a brand new Scotty, it it suits your eye and you feel comfortable with it, and holding it, and it gets the ball in the hole for you, then go for it!

Sure Harrington said the same thing in piece in the Independant about the grip 'Confessing he’d “no idea” of the science behind the grip, Harrington said: “I just like the bigger, flatter side against my hand. I feel I’m putting more with my right palm.” '

Sweeping statement of the year award - I'm sure the grip "works" as a putter grip. Many golf pros are forever trying different putters, grips, gadgets, gizmos in an effort to better their putting - often times they see an improvement(placebo?), it fades, and then onto the next one........come to think of it even more amatuers are the same!:P
