The whole market has become skewed, what were genuine fully paid up positions are now 9 months of almost free labour at the end of which you will be shown the door and the whole thing starts over. Strip out Interns, WPP and CE schemes and it turns out about 50% of jobs are "real".

They aren't all bad. I'm on a CE type scheme. I work 24 hrs a week and am in college part time at about 20 hours a week. The work isn't much but it's a few extra Euro while studying and it's another thing to fill up space on my CV . Hopefully when I'm finished college I can jump back into full time employment, here or elsewhere

...but I can't apply for them as I've had a part time job as a waitress over the summer and haven't been getting any social welfare.

Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if there's any way around it?

Yes, there are many internships available to students who doesn't qualify for JobBridge. Just google e.g. "internships in ireland" and you will find a few good websites that advertise internships outside the JB scheme - or PM me for more info.

Best of luck with your search!
