In Poland, Germany, Lithuania they have that sequence.
Italy, I believe France as well have the Irish sequence. I believe the States also have our sequence

I think the UK sequence makes more sense as people at the front simply aren't ready and have to:

    - react to the lights ("jaysus I better put down my coffee and move off)
    - put it in gear ("feckin gearbox is shticky, go inta first ya bastid")
    - release handbrake (just in case the road magically grows and incline)
    - set off

so 2-3 seconds of nothings, then they'll move off but if they haven't noticed the green you give them another 2-3 seconds before beeping and then they still have to go through their checklist

Some people though seem to think that the correct procedure when they're first at the lights is to put it in neutral, yank the handbrake up with both hands as hard as possible, turn off the engine, throw away the key, get out of the car and lie face down with their hands behind the neck.
Correct procedure would be in gear, ready to go and off like (you know what) off a shovel.:D

(Unless I know the lights are red for ages and I can gauge by the lights for the intersecting road and pedestrian lights, then it's just neutral and foot brake, never use the handbrake unless you're there for half an hour)

My ready for the green sequence is.

    - Watch for the other lights turning amber.
    - Into gear and wait.
    - Once the other light goes red I'm holding the car on the handbrake with the clutch just biting.
    - On green, I'm gone in .3 of a second :D

If I know the light sequence, I wait 2 seconds of the 4 and scare the shit out f the red light jumpers...

I read somewhere and was told by a County Engineer that because we are a nation of "ambler gamblers" that if people were ready to move off on green, here there would be a lot more accidents.

LOLs, there is a guy I see regularly doing the same in Donnybrook, he always stop short, it is clearly on purpose but he jumps on green, slams on the breaks and then blares the horn with the dirtiest stare ever. Its wrong but so funny, I am convinced at least three RLJers have sh1t themselves by the look on their faces.

Its a BlackVue DR380G-HD and I got it on Amazon Uk for around STG £150 and threw in a 16GB micro SD card which you'd get around a week out of with normal driving. Has parking mode and GPS.

I use the Maplin HD journey cam.

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/720p-journey-recorder-625685

I has been recording for the last 16 months.
    e7gx.jpg

Here is a screen shot of it. Quality is not great. But the window could have been cleaner and its enough to get you out of a legal situation if needed. Quality has degraded over the time I have had it. It re records over a 32g sd card.

I was working (cameraman) two weeks ago and I stuck a GoPro on my car to get some footage of moving between locations. This happened (or almost happened)

This might be a good choice for anyone looking for a cheap and cheerful first cam.

    http://www.7dayshop.com/special/sensational-super-savings/black-box-car-windscreen-cam-bundles/7dayshop-hd-720p-car-dvr-camera-camcorder-2-0-inch-tft#video

Just a note to say that you might want to get it delivered to parcel motel in the north as 7dayshop is located in the channel islands afaik so you *may* get hit with import charges.

I have that same unit from here. Video is good 99% of the time. Totally useless at night or in really bright sunlight. Other than that works great. Records on a 16gb card in 720p for about 1.5 hours. Turns on and off with the car. Sound almost doesn't work on its so bad.

Good selection here. Free shipping but takes a while.

"It was like the movie World War Z, where the zombies just run into cars, he was exactly like that and I thought 'oh sh-t, it's the zombie apocalypse'," one driver, who shot the wild head-butting spree on his dashcam, said to the online paper.
Another witness told radio station 6PR that the man jumped atop the vehicle in front of him before getting even closer.

"He's come over to my car, he's kicked the side of my car in, hitting and punching windows and the cars were travelling at 60km/h and he's jumping in front of them," the witness said.

The man has been transferred to nearby Fremantle Hospital where he is being assessed for psychological issues, according to the Agence France-Presse.

Officers are looking into whether drugs played a factor in the frenzy.

Took my dashcam out of the car a good few weeks ago and almost regretted it this evening, nearly had a head on collision with a van in Dundalk which would have been my fault without video evidence.

We were face on at a crossroads, me indicating right, him indicating right. Lights went green and he goes straight through the junction instead, with me about to turn across him. Screeching tyres, he missed me by inches. Would have been my word against his and he would have won.

    Sticking it back in asap!

Did someone just ask for more Russian dashcam videos?

    How about 3?

Poor 15 year olds driving old Ladas

Rich 15 year old driving 4x4's / big German motors

    Bad drivers with guns

The Garda Traffic corpski would have a field day - or run a mile from it

Anybody in favour / know of a review section for Dash cams

Looking on Deal Extreme and the prices seem to be coming down more and more - or is quality suffering ??
