I got my first converse when I was 11. I have always had at least one pair since and still wear them aged 35 (i currently have 3 pairs)

If the kids think its uncool that I wear them, they should look for something else to wear, coz I couldn't give a **** about them...

IMO if you are over the age of 42 and 3/4, 2 weeks, 1 day, 5 hours and 33 minutes then it is time to stop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭Norma_Desmond

As long as you dont wear them with skinny jeans then you are never to old to wear converse!

Prioritise reaching an age where you don't think it matters a sh1t what other people think of what you wear, no matter what age.

Converse are overpriced crap, bought by idiots who think the brand enhances them in some way

    Anyone for a twisted ankle?

Well I've been wearing them for around 15 years, still haven't twisted my ankle in them. As for overpriced, probably. But not as overpriced as other footwear that's churned out in factories in China or Vietnam; eg Nike.

They're not exactly statement wear so I think you can wear them forever. I wear them (34), my older siblings wear them, my preteen nieces wear them and my mum (68) wears them. They've been around so long, it is sort of equivalent to asking how long you can continue to wear jeans.

How much are a pair of Converse?

The fact that you think like that is a bit sad.

What else do they wear? :pac:

OP you should never have started wearing them. A load of crap worn by little girls is what they are!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,500 ✭✭✭✭DEFTLEFTHAND

They're all I wear really when I'm not in work, always found them comfortable so I don't envisage to stop wearing them anytime soon. They can be bad for your knees though as there is no support offered in the sole at all. I broke my leg in a pair while climbing over a wall, there was nothing to absorb the shock when I jumped down.

Converse are made in China and owned by Nike.

they've been back for over a year. You'll get them in Office, Schuh, any vintage-ish shop that sells shoes

Be janey you learn something new everyday.

I'd still rather pay €40 for a pair of Cons than €120 for a pair of Nike that will damage your feet and muscles. It's been scientifically proven that the less cushioning in a pair of runners the better as it allows a more natural stride and impact between your foot and surface.

I've never owned a pair so I can't comment on their comfort but I hate the sight of them because I associate them with skinny jeans.

If you like them though then fcuk the begrudgers to be honest.

I bought my first pair a week ago so I'm not going to stop wearing them anytime soon. Most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.

WTF were you getting over a wall at your age ?

I got my first pair of converse when I was a kid waaaaaaaaaay back in the 1980s, me ma got them from Tuthills bargain bin for a pound, because at the time no-one would be seen dead wearing them.

they only started to become popular as a staple of grunge scene (smells like teen spirit opens with a full shot of Cobains converse tappin away) which was basically not givin a fcuk what you wear. and that is something of any age who doesn't give a fcuk about stupid fcukin bullsiht can appreciate.

that said I'd rather any other white soled runners than branded converse, same shid, much cheaper.

    Damn hipsters.

Clark's are still cool right ?

I'll be wearing hightops for a very long time, look at Becks still wearing them at 36, mayb around 40 stop, just because you kinda need to adapt at a certain stage. I mean I don't wear Air Max anymore even tho I like them because they just don't suit me anymore.

I would imagine that the major scientific things about NikVerse is how to keep a supply chain cost low and market the different brands to different segments presenting the illusion of choice... ending up with people emotionally attached to one brand over another.... for no good reason

I stopped wearing them after Nike bought the company in 2003.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,787 ✭✭✭Feisar

I love them for the gym and for general wear. They look nice enough with a pair for jeans I think.
I like the minimal sole they have. Much more natural to walk in compared with runners/shoes.

Way way over priced for what they are though.

First they came for the socialists...

Cushioned runners tend to make people heel strikers while running. Running barefoot, people generally land with the ball of the foot and the ankle joint acts as a shock absorber.
