219 operating the 1300 heuston to cork service, no sign of the reduced sets some people are claiming.

I'm told that 230 is still north of the border followings its fire a few weeks back. The "authorities" up there are still investigating what happened and won't be releasing the loco till they are finished. My information is that it is repairable but whether that actually happens or not obviously remains to be seen

Not the first time 230 has ignited north of the border either, blew up (literally) at Central a few years back a photo of which was a Irish Mail cover shot..........

I seen about 7 or 8 in the inchicore works earlier in a row, all still had the original orange colours.

They have been stored like that for about 2+ years now. They will never be used again. There are 10 in orange. There were never intended to get the Intercity silvery livery.

Those have a newer orange livery and not the old one.

The newer orange livery looks awful. Last time I passed I saw most of the access panels and doors open on the stored 201s ensuring the elements do their worst. They're not my favorite loco but its such a shame to see them rotting.

There is usually always a maintenance spare set of Mk4s at Inchicore.
    Each set is 7+DVT.

I think the previous poster is referring to the current storage of Mk.4's rather than just spare vehicles.

Passing yesterday there were more MK4s than usual in there, are IE actually storing a lot of them and changing the Dublin-Cork to the ICRs?

They will be out a lot longer soon enough, not all most will be.

Is there no value in them second hand anywhere internationally, I know the gauges are all different, but they must be convertible ??

They already tried to sell the 2700s and the mk 3s and I think there was a rumour at one stage about selling the 201s but I never saw any proof of that.

IE would have a hard time trying to sell 201s on the international market when there are many, many surplus Class 66 up for grabs in the UK for sale and long term lease contracts.

231 was on the 11:00 Connolly-Belfast today and put in an impressive run, getting in 9 minutes early. 233 took me home on the 18:05 ex Central and got back a more modest 4 minutes ahead of time.

234 was at inchicore while 222 worked the 17,00 to Cork.
