dgt, how did you miss this !!! I even checked back a pile of posts to make sure you hadn't popped it up already.

If that one is genuine its a very good find indeed. The nicest colour in them in my opinion, half leather and relatively low mileage. A few months tax into the bargain to sweeten the deal even more. Won't hang around for long I reckon

Considering how close we are to Christmas and a new year is looming, I vote we end this thread and start fresh in Jan 2013..!!

What better example to go out on than the effort quoted above.
The Holy Grail for Bangernomics 2012 has been found.. heres to 2013..:pac:

Doubt it'll be ended unless we get to the 10,000 posts:p

Or we all have a huge argument and the mods feel no way to resolve it is by locking the thread:P

Sellers comment: "The 406 hdi was the best car ever made"

EEEK!!... Why do people feel the need to write in these sort of bullsh!t comments when advertising a car? These kind of comments tend to put me off as I'd guess the seller is gonna spout bs about other aspects of the car in hand...

    +1

Why not keep it simple and to the point? I enjoy tearing these people to pieces :D

Not quite as good a deal as the white 730 but here is a 750iL for €1250.
Someone has talked to the owner already, needs 2 bushings.

that bonnet suggests there's could be lot more than 65k on it, lots of stone chipping and needs a respray...

That E38 was posted here yesterday, ongarite

Lot of car for the money anyway, less than €100 per cylinder :D

High spec too! The comfort seats are brilliant. Had them in my 735i too

How much would a professional respray be? Probably madness to respray a €1,5k banger, no?

How much would you pay to insure a bus like that unkel?

I'd say it would be cheaper to wrap it, let's say 600 up

possibly, or just drive it on "as is"

the bumper probably needs doing too, and i note a foglamp is bolloxed, so thats more cash.......

    Probably cheaper than you think

I bought my E38 735i when it was just over 7 years old. My insurance was a lot cheaper than a same year / same value E39 523i

The last year I had it, I paid about €500 fully comp, including full NCB protection and including business use (would have been about €390 fully comp without those extras)

I guess a 7-series is just about the opposite of a boy racer car, hence cheap insurance :)

Not that many of them around, and they probably don't get written off too often either. No reason for insurance companies to load them.

Some real classs barge bargains out there, some going for less than the price of a decent couch, I love high motor taxes in this country, bargains galore for the astute purchaser and plenty of people feeding the supply chain who are willing to spend tens of thousands to save hundreds :D

I hate to be a downer on the parade but by taxing it quarterly it now costs 40 euro a week.

I would love a barge and have always loved e38's, but that is just absolute crazy town money wise.

I know theirs the whole "I don't drink" , could be doing worse etc. Argument. But unless you're absolutely loaded (in which case you probably won't be buying an old car, paying 40 quid a week on tax sure is a silly idea.

There's plenty of people on quite modest incomes paying that and more in depreciation though :)

Exactly, you purchase a €160 a year motor tax entry level VW Golf for €20k, depreciation in year 1 will be over double the motor tax cost of a 3.2 litre plus car.

And that's before you pull up at the petrol station for the clerk to tell you ' Sorry sir, we don't have enough petrol to fill your car' :P

I like these, only 3 months NCT left but if you know your beans that's not a huge concern, almost 3 months tax there too so that's €200 ish, asking €1800 for a 2003 110k S60 petrol that looks straight :)

S60 has come down a lot in price recently. For that €1,800 I would want the belt to have been done in the last year or two though, or I'd look elsewhere :D
