Add those plates to the fact it's in Gorey and I'd bet a pint to a session that lexus has had a hard life.

    v economical does 600+ miles on €50

    €50 @ 1.71/litre = 29.24 litres of petrol

    600 miles = 960km

gives us 3.05l/100km, or in old money 92.62 mpg

    Daft bastid.

A mint manual mivec maybe but that will be up for sale a while unless he lowers the price.
I picked up a shabby looking 2litre non mivec manual last week for 350. Little bit of elbow grease gone into it to make it look flash and nct tomorrow, hasn't cost me a penny more and it will be up for sale tomorrow.
I'll be chuffed if I get my 1100 asking price

its a good spec, assuming all is ok with it, its a 99 car asking E1200 when the tax for one year isnt far off that, decimates value of car... I just checked, its E1294 per year!!!

Shows just how ludicrous our tax system is, doesn't it?

yeah it does, just psychologically, most people wont pay more in one years tax than a car is worth, then again it is the high tax on the larger engined cars that has their value on the floor...

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,158 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

You'd have to wonder if you're trying to sell something large engined would you be better to take it north of the border and re-reg it there so it could be listed on UK sites at this stage...

What is the cost of registering those cars in the north/UK?
If it is small cost some dealers would do it by now, wouldn't they?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,158 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

Who's to say there's not? It's not something you'd advertise in the market that's you're buying the cars in, is it? ;)

Whatever the cost of registering and MOT'ing an Irish car it couldn't be as bad as VRT and it's only a few years ago that price differences between Ireland and the UK made it worthwhile for us to import and VRT cars from the UK. When our tax system is destroying re-sale values of a category of car, I'd be surprised if we don't hit a point where potential for arbitrage exists.

    NCT till May, 575

Ignore the miles, the engines go on and on, even if the electrics don't :)

No, failed on emissions. Sailed through on everything else though. Gonna rebook, fill the tank with a healthy dose of diptane and give it an enthusiastic drive round the mountains before the test.

Diptane seems to be the best cure

What part of the emissions test did it fail on?

    Test till March 2013

Price 950 - Id say you could knock down the price about a 100 euro..

But paint works looks tip top shape.

They were marginally too high, not uncommon for older cars.
The girlfriend brought the car and shes very punctual so id say she was there early and the engine had cooled. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't pass next time round.

Why is there only two pedals ?

    Well spotted!

Could be that the mat was put back in over the pedal
