Indeed! This is one of my favourite renditions of his, gives me goosebumps:

At a live performance he got a request to do a Disco Version of The Last Ninja,
all improvised on the spot, hence the long build up...

    Some C64 news:

C64Anabalt was released on a real 16K cartridge that you can buy for about £19,
and can choose between 2 versions with have a different track on each:

The 1541 Ultimate I + II got an update recently that has easyflash support,
which means it can load .crt or Cartridge files instantly!
(There was some bugs, but a newer firmware came out earlier today that fixes them)

Now the 1541 Ultimate supports every type of media that was used for the C64! :D

As well as the cartridge port, it can connect the Serial port and fully emulate the 1541 Floppy Drive, and with the tape adapter, you can emulate loading from a tape!

Still can't wait to get mine next month, fingers crossed.

    Happy Birthday Commodore 64 :)

God the Memories.... I remember getting one for Christmas one year
and following year my mum sold it to her best friend, mum of my best friend for same price we paid for it year before :) And I went out and bought a NES and Mario and Duckhunt and I think Mario 3.

God that video of Last Ninja, C64 had some proper hard games... Unforgiving.
And my biggest memory of C64 was playing Terminator 2, came on a Cartridge, what we story with carts on C64 i cant remember there been many as I mostly had 1 cart and dozen tapes.

But T2 prob hardest game ive ever played, prob coz controls were so bad :)
But was very addictive, repaiing T2, motorbike chase etc...

Does anyone remember the hidden game of Space invaders on the T2 cartridge????
The day i found that i thought i was the worlds greatest hacker.

I bought c64anabalt there. new cart made for C64, with an indy title, that won a scene comp for restricting size to 16K. drools

I got my eye on that 1541ult II cart too. I love the idea of storing all the history of the C64s software base on a 8GB micro SD card, as well as preserving my old floppys, but it's a little expensive for the use I'd get out of it.

    Hmmmmm.... *taps foot.

    Fair play!!!

Was tempted to buy it myself but feck, have already ordered the Ultimate and that was expensive enough.

I might regret it when it's sold out though!

God damn it, I had that cart & never knew that. T2 was impossible & so frustrating. Never finished it.

Some great games mentioned so far, haven't thought about many of them in years. IK+ seems to have featured in most people's collections.

I'd don't and I still have that cart. will have to see if if it's still working or not and try it out

Cant remember how you did it....something to do with the power button and pulling out the cart at a certain time.

I think this video deserves to be posted here.

A guy who made his own version of Guitar Hero for the C64, called Shredz64.

Old, but some people may not have seen it yet:

The tune playing in this one is so funky, just listen to that chunky bassline!

Warning the following c64 demo video is NSFW, (honestly).

I think it's time to "redecorate" my CRT TV! ;)

    Haha^^^

If anyone hasn't played Revenge Of The Mutant camels, they must do so,

It's the most Psychedelic experience you'll have on the c64.

It warped my fragile mind at the age of 7, and changed me forever.

    I LOLed at the hippies.

    Hahahahah!

Now you know who the "Rockin Rollups" belonged to!

I haven't seen those hippies since I played it as a child i'd say.

Don't remember the space invaders level at 12:00 which is fantastic.

This game had probably the largest enemy sprite count and variety out of any game on the c64.

    Jeff Minter is a genius.

And as you can see from this pic, he didn't call his software company Llamasoft for no reason....

It was a great pity that, after XBLA wouldn't return his call, Minter released Gridrunner Revolution only on the PC, with an iOS Gridrunner turning up later.
I was really looking forward to that one :(
I have always enjoyed Llamasoft games, if not ever terribly good at them!

Been looking at c64 games released in 1982 and comparing the graphics to what was out on the Atari at the time.

Check out this c64 arcade conversion of Atari's Night Driver.

I can't get over how good the engine sound is for its time.

In fact it sounds more realistic than practically any other engine sound I've heard in a c64 game.

The original arcade version that came out in 1976 has decent enough sound also, I love the improvised wheel spin sound!

Here's another game from 1982 which made me laugh out loud instantly! :pac:

    I'm such a big child! :o

Maybe Steve was right after all!

I can't remember if I played this conversion of TMHT Arcade,
i may have watched my bro playing it briefly, but what a fantastic looking c64 port it is:

So damn late, and yet this is always the time I find something interesting on the internets...

    game_watch.jpg

The Game and Watch game, Mario Bros was unofficially ported to the c64 as "Mario Bros II" in 1987!

I've been highly inactive retro wise these days,
but heres one possibly for Dale Parish or Steve SI's collection:

The Commodore 65 prototype, currently at about $800.

In the auction itself, theres some nice high res photos of the computer from different angles,
and some showing the guts of the machine also.

    $800!!!
Do you know how many "Rise of the Robots" Carts/CD's/Floppy's I could get for that sort of monies :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 894 ✭✭✭Dale Parish

It's more for me than Steve, since there's only 1.
    :P :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,992 ✭✭✭Doge

Ah, the machine is non working, forgot to read the small print!

"Anyways, neat as it is, this machine is incomplete and I strongly doubt it works. It is missing the 'Bill' video chip and the chips at locations U3, U15, and possibly an oscillator crystal at u19 on the motherboard. I have no idea if the remaining chips are functional. This is how I received it 15 years ago."
