Dutch Scientists Develop Airborne H5N1 (Flu)

    http://www.doctortipster.com/6952-dutch-researcher-created-a-super-influenza-virus-with-the-potential-to-kill-millions.html
A Dutch researcher has created a virus with the potential to kill half of the planet’s population. Now, researchers and experts in bioterrorism debate whether it is a good idea to publish the virus creation ”recipe”. However, several voices argue that such research should have not happened in the first place.

The virus is a strain of avian influenza H5N1 genetically modified to be extremely contagious. It was created by researcher Ron Fouchier of the Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam, Netherlands.

“I can not think of a pathogenic organism to be more dangerous than this one”, commented Paul Keim, a specialist in microbial genetics who worked for many years with the anthrax bacillus. “I think the anthrax is not at all scary, when compared with this virus” , he added.

if someone can do it so publically, do ye not think US military, or others, would already have something like this secretly?

Should be immediately destroyed, carefully. What was the point??

I think they should use it.

I'm presuming he accidently created this while looking for ways to eliminate avian flu...
    Imagine being his boss....

IDIOT SCIENTIST: Boss, look what I made..

ME: Seriously... had you nothing better to do, make the flucking tea from now on..

These guys have too big of budgets and too little control on their work..

Pfffttt, let them create and publish what they like, that thing is still not as bad as Manflu and we struggle bravely through that, so I'll take on their poxy bird-cold.

Time for another good idea/bad idea..........

Good idea: inventing a cure for cancer

Bad idea: inventing a virus to kill half the planet

hmmm and these people actually get paid for this!

Meh, the global vaccine production line throws out a new one every year in response to whatever strain is looking like it's going to be the dominant infectious one. For swine flu, they had a vaccine pushed through phase I, II and III trials in 3 months. Just a case of getting one for this one too.

Many are predicting a required collapse of global population once the worlds oil reserves runs out. Something like this could be just the ticket. Might as well keep it in the fridge.

Id say it was the poster of hitler in his room while he was growing up

"10 million people and concentration camps? pffft"

    "7 years study, 1 lab, 3.5 billion to die! \0/ "

somewhere there is a girl out there which will ultimately be responsible for 3.5 billion deaths because she wouldn't give him a ride shift and then bullied him in their home town after it :(

Not particularly, anthrax is naturally occuring and all you need to do to cultivate it is get sheep and brush them down, then put the spores into an oven at ~37 degrees celcius, provided with sufficient nutrient agar. A fairly basic working knowledge of microbiology, a handful of sheep and a kitchen will get you that far. Therefore studying it is fairly important.

However, anthrax isn't that much of a problem. You need to inhale a lot of spores in order to get pulmonary anthrax, which has a 90% death rate provided victims don't seek treatment. Problem is, you'll know you've been infected (you'll see the cloud of spores coming at you) and can get a course of antibiotics to deal with it.

A terrorist group cultivated a large quantity of anthrax spores and dumped it out an apartment window in Tokyo. The wind dispersed the anthrax, and nobody inhaled sufficient quantities to develop symptoms. It was only discovered when members of the same terrorist group were interrogated by the Japanese police for the sarin nerve gas attack on the Tokyo subway system.

When IT people get bored they flip a colleagues desktop upside down for giggles. When microbiologists get bored they think of ingenious new ways to kill three and a half billion people...

    What.the.****.

Scientists in Netherlands have developed in a lab an airborne strain of H5N1.

"We have discovered that this is indeed possible, and more easily than previously thought. In the laboratory, it was possible to change H5N1 into an aerosol-transmissible virus that can easily be rapidly spread through the air,"

The fact they've proven it's possible can only lead to other nutjob scientists developing other viruses that spread through the air rather than through human contact.
