We have a second car at the moment that we're trying to sell. It was parked outside the garden in our "visitor parking". Unfortunately the battery went in it so the alarm is not working, the radio was robbed from it the other day and they couldn't get it start obviously so left it there. Battery is now charged and car has been moved into the garden with new car parked behind it. Scum.

    Daytime, Nighttime?

As newish houses probably all have good alarms so lines are being attacked.

Any word on cylinder locks bumped etc?

Cutting the phone line or the power will activate an alarm anyway so you'd wonder why they bother.

Cutting the phone will disable the monitoring if no other form of signaling is in place. But pulling a live fuseboard off the wall serves no purpose unless it's a suicide mission.

Well if they were smart, they would probably have jobs.

Or at least realise there's a switch outside at the meter.

Most new or retrofitted monitored alarms use GSM and battery backups so cutting power and/or phoneline should not matter.

Its worth spending the few quid to get this done if you have an older system, its great peace of mind if you have elderly relatives etc relying on their alarms

GSM is considered by most in the industry as an unreliable form of monitoring. GSM can be easily jammed without any physical tampering.

Was a few lads of the "can I clean your gutters boss" persuasion around today. I was out of the house but had the IP camera on. He stood outside my front door, proceeded to light up a fag, and stood there for a good three minutes with his hands down his pants before he moved on. This was at about 1pm. Keep an eye out!

House broken into at the racecourse end of Blackhorse ave this morning around 11 am.
Smashed in the Patio doors and thrashed the house, got laptops.
Tall dark haired guy with eastern European accent giving out clothes collection leaflets beside the house at the time, spoke with neighbours.
No one home at the time, alarm off, details given to AGS.

He'll be out in an hour. Might get a caution or a suspended sentence when he goes to court but nothing too bad of course.

Would that not be D7 rather than D15?

On the border of 7 and 15, Belleville is D15 (Bertie's x Misses pad and the Lacey kidnap) as are parts of Ashtown, Rathbourne etc.

Anyone know what happened the fence at the end of the Ongar Road (just before the roundabout to turn right into Allendale)...looks like somebody crashed into it but it's a straight piece of road. It actually looks like a monster truck drove over and back on top of it to wreck it ha

Saw that. Looks like a strange one all right.

  • Registered Users Posts: 315 ✭✭RTT

Yeah a friend of mine lives nearby. Apparently a silver bmw crashed through it while being pursued by a 3 garda cars and one or two unmarked ones. Apparently there were guns drawn too.
