Well my profiles views have dropped through the floor in the last week, and still striking out on my messages, all this after a decent profile overhaul.
Completely fed up with this whole thing right now.

Me being the mailing machine i am to many attractive girls, and me being an attractive bloke (not being cocky) have barely gotten a response. And yes i've written, witty, interesting comments, genuine long mails and nothing back.

Its a nicer layout and the profiles actually have some thought put into them instead of the typical PoF 2 lines of useless information and then "message me if youve got any questions". But its incredibly empty compared to PoF

I wouldn't mind the lack of users on OKC if it didn't show people who were offline for months and people from other countries.

I'm a 34 year old male that has been single for nearly 4 years. I'm sick to death of the pub scene and most of my mates are in relationships so I decided to bite the bullet and do something about my situation.

I recently joined match.com as it was recommended to me by a co-worker. They said that the paying sites had a much better success rate as the clientèle were serious about wanting to meet someone and are not just looking for an ego boost or a cheap thrill that is allegedly quite common on free sites.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've been a member for 3 weeks now and have 120 profile views, 10 winks and 0 messages. My plan was to sign up for free to feel it out then pay the monthly subscription after a month but I'm not so sure now. I've put up a load of pictures and wrote a positive yet honest description of myself but nobody seems bothered to message me.

It is a case where guys do all the chasing like it is 'in real life' or what? I'm just abit concerned and don't want to sign up for this if it's going to be a complete waste of time. Plus some of the profiles on it are very off putting and have a list of demands that need to be met ie: must be over 6 foot tall (this from a girl who was 5'2), will ignore message with no photos, must make x amount of money, etc, etc.

Lastly, is match.com actually any good or are there better dating sites out there?

Have you had someone look over your profile? You might think it sounds good but it may come across cocky or there is something on it that turns ladies off mailing you.

Also, did you check the messages sent? The Gnome had an issue the other day with that. :pac:

Saw an ad yesterday saying "Get paid for dates". That'd be awesome. Frickin dab hand at them now. :rolleyes:

You're right. We need mirrors, everyone of us. I probably-what's that phrase that's used a lot on here- punch way above my head and I think the same goes for the majority of the guys double my age who email me.

Seriously, you only have to read people's profiles- especially us girls and a good number of the guys to know that we all think we are the bees knees or a very close appendage.

So we reject the people we think are not good enough for us and hold out hope for the 'out of our leaguers'. I think that's the trouble with internet relationships- out of that virtual space, the 'out of our leaguers' would not be dangled so temptingly within reach and the 'within reaches' would not look so bad in comparison.

On AF you have to pay up to mail people and i sometimes think that gets rid of the timewasters.

Long time lurker here, first post. Used MSF some years ago when I lived in London and overall was very positive about online dating and MSF in particular. Joined POF here and things are very quiet. Sent a good few messages, no text speak or "how's you babes?" or other nonsense, very few responses, maybe 1 in 10, so figure must be doing something wrong...

What really bugs me is when you write out a good and well thought out mail and then the person doesn't reply. I've had only one girl messaging me back thanking me for the proper message but telling me I'm not her type. I like that, it's honest.

But on the other side, some people don't reply to say 'thanks but no thanks' as it can sometimes mean they recieve an abusive mail back. I think though, if someone writes a decent mail to you, they are more likely to accept the 'thanks but no thanks' message.
