Only have 5 level 8s.. It took so long to decide between my top two as I'm very academic but music is my life :pac: If I don't get my top two though I'd really be considering a repeat! But my teachers have told me that I have an aptitude to achieve far beyond the points requirement for my first choice so am not too worried. Just need to put in the work :)
    1. MH102 Music Technology
    2. MH101 Arts
    3. DN500 BA Degree - joint honours - full time
    4. DT222 Physics Technology
    5. DN518 Philosophy

I've a lot of friends doing music tech in NUIM who absolutely love it! You can pick a science subject with it too which would appeal to your academic side! :) One of my friends had Music Tech first on his CAO but got Arts and ended up dropping out because the difference between Music Tech and Music through arts is immense, so you should make sure you look into the music options through arts!

Thanks for the advice :) Thats class never knew anything about the science thing! :D When do ya pick your extra subject and can ya pick any of the Sciences with it?

No problem! :) You pick them at registration in college, but you can pick and change up until a certain date in October!

You pick 2 of these subjects along with music:

Accounting, Anthropology, Biology, Business, Chinese, Economics, English, Finance, French, Geography, German, Greek, Greek + Roman Civilisation, History, Latin, Law, Mathematical Physics (Project Maths basically.. :)), Medieval Irish and Celtic Studies, Maths, Irish, Philosophy, Physics with Astrophysics. :)

In year 2 you specialise in 2 of the subjects you've picked (Ie: Music and another one!). Any more questions let me know and I can ask my friend.. :)

Is that not through the Arts approach though? I picked you up that you could take a Science subject along with Music Tech when its not through Arts? Probably picked you up wrong, sorry!

That is the music tech one! :) You do 2 other subjects along with music tech! The music course is different to the one through arts which is basically the only difference!

It's for people who forgot to put restricted courses down. They have to pay money to get them on the cao in time= richer cao!

It's actually so that they can get a lot of the things that need to be done finished without having to deal with more applications coming in. There are lots of supporting documents coming into them at the moment for DARE and HEAR applicants, as well as all the paper applicants that have come in so far need to be manually entered into their computers.

    LEVEL 7
1: GA172 - Rural Enterprise and Agribusiness, GMIT
    2: WD156 - Forestry, Waterford IT
    3: GA271 - Film and Television, GMIT

After college, I want to do secondary teaching, hence my top 3 choices are Arts :D See all ye Mary I boardsies next year if things go to plan!

You can go into secondary school teaching with 4,6 and 8 also. I know a lot who did English and History have applied for H. Dips and haven't got them, its very competitive so beware of what subjects if you choose to do Arts but also bear in mind you need an interest. I'm in UL and couldn't recommend it higher. Good luck :).

Ah shíte :P well my career guidance teacher said something about getting money from late applicants... But she's crap and no one listens to her, so I think that that's backed everything up :pac:
If its non profit then why do they charge so much? I know it costs money to run but surely with the amount of applicants and the fees they charge for everything they'd make something?

Does anyone know when it's back open for changes?

There are 80,000 applicants, I'm assuming the average fee per applicant is about €25, that's just a guess because the majority avail of the €20 discounted fee and then some people have to pay the late fees. So in total that would bring them in €2,000,000. With all the people they have on the phones, maintaining the website and computer systems, doing the paperwork, reviewing the HEAR and Dare applicants they probably spend most of the money on that. Because this is Ireland they probably have some boss that is on €200k+ per year. Then there is their expenses and running costs, so I doubt they would have anything left.

Loads of people are putting down computer science, half of them will drop out after the first year, don't know what they are getting themselves into.

But I'm really good with computers! I can open internet explorer and print things and everything. One time my computer froze and I turned it off and on again and fixed it!

Never mind "after the first year". I know a few people doing computer courses who dropped out after the first semester. People seem to think that being relatively proficient in using computers will automatically translate to being proficient in working with computers when it's not always the case.

yes. as people above pointed out i put down Computer Science because of the job prospects. didnt really know what to do, guidance councillor thought i would be great at it but, for me, it will be extremely boring and monotanous.

not really sure what to change it to but ill say this much, one CS applicant is gone so some of you will be happy
