Don't think I could stick the attitudes some med students I know have really....

If you have no interest in a course, don't do it, in most cases it won't end well. I really do despair at some "career guidance" teachers...

What's your problem?. So people want to study Law, so what if it's in Trinity? Its a good respectable college that offers good courses and has a good reputation. Trinity is not even my number 1 choice and apart from myself I only saw 1 or 2 people interested in Law in Trinity..

Your negativity is so appauling, do yourself a favour and take a year out to mature and cop on a bit..

    Yeah, trinnerz for winnerz! XD

Ahem.. ok, 'courses that took my fancy so far' i.e. my CAO:

    DC133 - B.Sc. in Multimedia - DCU
    MH110 - B.A. in Digital Media - NuiM
    NC003 - B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing - NCI
BN112 - B.A. (Hons) in Creative Digital Media - ITB

But strictly speaking I only really want to do the top two, even the first choice (obviously). The others are just for Plan B.

    1. UCD Med
    2. RCSI Med
    3. NUIG Med
    4. UCD General and Children's Nursing
    5. TCD General and Children's Nursing
    6. DCU General and Children's Nursing
    7. UCD Midwifery
    8. TCD Midwifery
    9. UCD General Nursing
10 TCD General Nursing (Meath and St. James')

I've three level 7s, they're all culinary arts...

    Then for UCAS I have

    Murray Edwards College - Law
Aberdeen University - Law and Politics
Stirling University - Law and Politics
University of Edinburgh - Law and Politics
    Queens - Law and Politics.

REALLY want Murray Edwards, even though it's all girls.

Um ... I'm genuinely not trying to be smart here, but your choices have me puzzled!

All your CAO Level 8 courses are med / nursing, but they don't appear at all on the UCAS list, and all your UCAS courses are law, but this doesn't appear at all on CAO?

No-one for Law in NUI Maynooth then?. *Sigh*..

More places for me though! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

Currently I am stuck between four courses, this is the order I have them in at the moment but will need to go to the open days to fully decide:
    1 Economics & History TCD
    2 Law & Business TCD
    3 Business & Law UCD
    4 Law with history UCD

I basically have three subjects business, law and history that I want to do, and its down to which combination I choose. Not fussed whether I go to UCD or TCD as both are walkable for me.

It seems Pharmacy is what you want to do (going from your #1 choice and all your UCAS choices...)
Can I ask why you don't have UCC/RCSI down as 2nd and 3rd on your CAO? You're willing to move to the UK to do Pharmacy but not willing to go to Cork or the Royal College of Surgeons?

Pharmacy was what I wanted to do, had TCD/RCSI/UCC as my 1,2,3. I spent a year in Science in TCD (your 2nd choice), while it was fun, it was not what I wanted to do. I managed to get into RCSI Pharm after a year and like it so much more.

If Pharmacy is really what you want to do then you should really look at the other colleges in Ireland!

Everyone is puzzled when I said it :L I literally don't know which I want. I'd love to be either, so I figured put both of them down. I don't want to go through the years it takes to be a barrister over here, but nursing in the UK holds no appeal for me.

I'm a drop out too*. In ways it's kinda more nerve wrecking.. :(

I'm stuck with the points I got from last years leaving, although I got 410 which I was delighted with and still am. It's just I've to rely on my preferred choices either staying the same or dropping a few points.

For example, two of the courses I'm looking at both were 415 (final tally) last year so I'm kinda bricking it :o

*I say drop out, but I'm still registered, and due to be in lectures but I'm just availing of the facilities for the time being and trying to do a language on the side so.... call it what you wish.

I don't do a third language, I find any other language than English (but that in itself is fairly debatable) very difficult. So I didn't do it for the Leaving. UCC and Surgeons have a language requirement and they don't have any exceptions, emailed them both and said you need one no matter what. But I don't mind, languages are just too very hard for me to grasp.

If it ends up being a bit more of a scenic route to Pharmacy - bring it on. :)

Not to sidetrack the thread, but what way did you go around to getting into RSCI? :)

In that order? Big difference between Law and Computer Science!

If you get comp sci in trinity I shall see you there

I'll be choosing computer science in trinity as my number 1 also. I don't have much interest in any other courses, I might put computer science in UCC as my number 2.

I cant decide between UCD and TCD...I loved UCD to bits and TCD was just so unappealing in every way except that its close and, well, its Trinity :pac: But my courses are something like this:

    International Languages, UCD
    French and Italian
    French and Spanish
French and German (through arts in UCD)
    Arts in UCD

Business and French in TCD is tempting too but...meh, I'd prefer pure languages I think.
