PR & Comms Consultant it says on yer mans profile, so that explains why Aiken is pandering to his whims.

Walked into the stadium 5 minutes before Bruce came on stage on Sunday night and could've gotten within a few feet of these losers who were roll calling for days.

It's a hike out/up to the stadium too from Barcelona city centre. They were doing it 3 times a day. Pathetic.

hey folks - we picked up 2 sets of standing tickets for sunday night - one says go in the yellow entrance, the other the blue - they all on my ticketmaster account - can we all rock up the one entrance and they will let us in? other option would be to transfer 2 to my wife and split up and rejoin inside.. hardly be to much hassle over it?

Note: Applies to all shows. For the rest of the tour.

Maybe on the Tuesday? If youre going on Friday (and particularly Sunday) and it is a must to be in the pit, I'd say 4pm.

It's 20 mins from Placa d'Espanya and most of the hill can be done on escalators or there's a bus that brings you right to the stadium. No bother to them.

3 times per day.......there and back. And I ended up standing behind most of them and I got there at 8.55pm.

Aiken don’t care, they just don’t want people queuing outside RDS as that is against licence condition. They let these diehards make up own rules as long as no fights/stress for aiken.

So from press announcement gates at 4.30 on stage around 7 then 3 hours or so show and be finished by 10.30.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,081 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Haha. Heard at the last RDS shows there was war between the roll call people and security as they tried to walk past people in the pit queue and were waving there hands like it was some vip wristband.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,899 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

We had this whole discussion about the roll call and the die hards/losers last time round as well. Got quite heated if I recall.

Unless you want to be the first one through the gate, best not waste your time thinking about the ridiculousness of the whole thing. Most people acknowledge it's absolutely preposterous but it has the square root of f**k all impact on them.

As a small and petty man however, I would honestly love to see them get told to **** off just once.

I'm so tempted to start queueing at the RDS from 11am Friday......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,081 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Just write number 1 on your hand and walk up to top of the pit queue. It’s as valid as the sandymount hotel thing as aiken have publicly denounced it

The actual delusion of these twats, "Times for sunday to be decided". By who you mong, I was going to try to get in the pit on Friday anyway, Now it's my mission to get directly in front of one of them.

Some of them are already in a panic about how they can "queue" for Sunday when they're already at the Friday gig. Several will probably leave Friday's show early to get a "good number" for Sunday. Nobody will be allowed create congestion outside the venue once the Friday show is over, so what are they going to do? Run back to start another queue at the Sandymount Hotel, the "official" (these people claim) Boss HQ (spare me) for these shows?

At the last rds shows, bunch of them legged it out before the encore to run outside to rds car park where they agreed a meeting place to write the numbers for the next show.

security found it hilarious as first few rows of the pit just got up and all moved en masse well before show was over

I've seen it happen at U2 shows as well, most recently the 3Arena ones. The mentality of these people. They cannot possibly enjoy a show if they're too busy stressing about having to run out the gate at the right time, in order to secure a spot for the next gig.

In 2016 someone left the gig in Glasgow before the encore (so still over hour to go) to drive overnight down to Coventry to get #1 for the gig two days later.

Enjoy the show you are at fully, is being on barrier for show 2 and 3 really going to be life altering for them.

like I understand it for a show on a tour as a special experience, but not every night of a run.

being 5 feet back from barrier is not going to alter a show that much

Ha ha. I was going to drop in a belittling remark into the twitter thread. But just saw that I know that guy - Tom Mc. Don't know him too well - just more on a professional work level. But wouldn't have thought him to be in to that crap.

I don't know why, but I had in my head that these people were fairly young - like in their 20s and 30s - where maybe they have less responsibilities and can travel freely. But from a couple of the pictures of them, they are all in their 50s and 60s. Talk about having zero sense.

One thing I don't understand - what if theoretically, a group of say 15 die hard fans (not part of these looney tunes gang) decide to queue at the RDS at 7 o'clock on Friday morning. Then these guys arrive at around 12 with their numbers. Does security tell the other normal people to move aside, and let all these roll call people through. Surely, there must have been some fisticuffs over the years if that's the policy.

It's because these "true fans" enjoy the brag and status of being at their 450th Bruce gig and being in an imaginary club rather than the joy of enjoying an actual Bruce gig.

If you genuinely, genuinely loved an artist, you would not leave their show unless you categorically had to. You're already up the front. You're already at the show. You're already enjoying yourself (allegedly). But being able to be up the front is more important than the perks of being up the front. It is insane logic.

The shocking thing is that these people are largely functioning adults elsewhere.

And I thought the Pearl Jam fans were hardcore!

Aiken have asked that no one queues early, residential area and licence rule is in place.

So whoever queues outside RDS appropriate time before each show has more legitimacy than sandymount hotel people with number written on them.

at the last rds Bruce shows there was “issues” with the numbers people skipping the queue and demanding first access to the pit. From what I understand ultimately the security allowed them to skip the people queuing just to stop the hassle.

obviously this has legitimatised the whole numbers on hand situation to an extent but officially it is not approved and does not have involvement of the promoters so if you were in the queue and these people tried to skip ahead security should tell them to go back to the end
