While I would not be too upset if it had multiple discs, if it could be avoided it would be better. Games like Battlefield 3 have two discs - one for single player/one for multiplayer. This is fine.
La Noire had like 8000 discs (rough estimate) but each disc was a section of the game (part 1,2,3). Mass Effect 2 was the only game with multi discs that pissed me off. It wasn't split into sections, it just randomly asked for disc 1 or 2 depending on where you traveled!

    Exactly my problem with ME3.

Max Payne 3 is another example of a game that did the multi-disc thing well. Part 1, Part 2. Simple.

To be honest, I think multi-disks might be unavoidable for Xbox, especially given the soundings that it's going to be the biggest GTA game ever.

Next week it will be 8 months since the trailer release. That's a ridiculous amount of time to have to wait for information for this game. I can understand that their timeframe was messed up because of Max Payne 3 being delayed, and they probably had planned on releasing a second trailer before now, but come on, ANYTHING, give us something! Even a few screenshots or something, surely that couldn't have hurt the sales of MP3...

8 months is nothing. We've been waiting nearly 6 years for news on a new Half-life game.

The whole release of the V trailer was to build up hype for Max Payne. It was perfect marketing technique tbh

I think it has to be a 2013 release at this stage. Oct/Nov is only 4-5 months away. Can't see them releasing it then.

Does anyone know what game this is? That is, if it isnt gameplay footage of V..

It's a game from a good few years that was in production but fell through. Think it was meant to be a PS3 exclusive. I forget the exact details tbh. But there are similar vids dating backing to 2009, maybe even 2007. Quick answer.. it's not GTA.

Thought it wasnt, you can tell by the shooting and moving physics that its pretty all over the place, but i kinda wanted to play it. Thought it could fill the void between now and whenever.

I hope they have a feature where you can create your own custom radio station to play in your car. You could upload the old SA radio stations soundtracks.

    Just a thought

Well they will have something like that on the PC version.
With the multidisk. It would be cool if one disk installed the map and all the staic stuff on the Xbox and the other disk(s) were used for missions

That game is called Sleeping Dogs, I think (an upcoming sequel to the True Crime games).

In GTAIII I never Mastered the dodo, well other than getting it off the ground for a few seconds. But for anyone that did, please tell me this: remember that place in the extreme north west of the map (past the reservoir) where you drove on the grass but got to a point that you couldn't go past. It was too steep to walk or drive up but what happened if you flew the dodo over it?

Hope there wont be a big invisible wall at the new mount chilliad anyway...

    gnfnrhead wrote: »
Not a lot. You could fly but if you went too high or low, you crashed and died. The ground isn't solid so you can't land. A couple of the developers names come up on the radar thingy and you can see the bank from the cut scene at the beginning. That's it. I never got up to it myself, but that's the best I've heard that's up there, everything else is just grass.

When you flew the Dodo (or the Tank, when you put the all cars can fly cheat in, and turned the backwards, so when you shot, it propelled you into the air) over that part of the map, you seen the back of the island (there was no detail or anything, just the general shape of the reservoir and stuff) and amidst a sea of random blue textures and lines, you could make out the small street area of the bank job from the opening sequence of the game.

There were no names on the radar or anything like that, that I recall. The game just froze before you could do anything. You couldn't actually get anywhere near the street from the opening sequence, just view it from a distance.

I tried to explore it many a time, always with the same end result (resetting the console, as the game had frozen).

On a different topic, using a big title (and practically feigning it's upcoming release), as a tactic to try and sell a lesser title, coupled with an irritatingly long wait and talking down to your fanbase when they mention it, are all things that I never really expected of Rockstar.

Must say, I've really lost a lot of respect for the company after this stunt. They're acting like children at this stage (and I know it's fair to say that a lot of the fans of the game are acting like children, too, but we all know that Rockstar knew there'd be a big demand from people when any news of GTA V was mentioned).

I'll still buy the game, obviously, but I always thought Rockstar were one of those kind of companies that (at least pretended) they were in it for their fanbase and giving them what they want, etc.

My opinion of them has really dropped.

Acting like children? It's a genius tactic, they still have us talking about the game 8 months on from just one trailer. No other company could do that. I dont care that they havent released any more info about the game since then, it leaves me to imagine what is in store for us, creates some anticipation. Of course i wouldnt mind another trailer but I'm not getting angry at them over it. I just want to eventually be able to play this game.

Oh definitely a genius move to shift some extra copies of Max, but a very underhanded move, all the same.

They know the kind of response GTA announcements get and they know people are massively into the series, so I think it's a bit uppity to release the trailer, some basic information, and then pretty much tell everyone to shut up talking about it. (Mention GTA V on their Newswire or Facebook and see how long your comment lasts).

How did it help shift more copies of Max Payne? The thought never crossed my mind, how do you make the leap?

There's a thing you can download for PC called "San Andreas Radio", and when you put your PS2 disc into the drive, you've got access to every piece of music, adverts, station ID's, etc. You can create a playlist and put in DJ's talking, music, ads, news and export to an .mp3, whack it onto the Xbox/PS3 and away you go. :) Only problem would be you'd be driving around in 2012/3 listening to news from the 90's! :pac:

As far as I could see Max Payne wasn't exactly as popular as R*would have been hoping it to be, so they released the V trailer knowing that people would routinely visit the site to see the trailer, check for updates, etc. and all the while R* are pushing MP3 at them over and over.

I'd never really heard much at all about Max 3 until the GTA trailer came out. Then I heard about it everyday (across all kinds of GTA forums).
