If it isn't ported onto the next gen Sony and MS will be pissed. How many people who would have traded their consoles to be an early adopter will hold off now to get more GTA V play time?

Nobody knows for sure whether or not the PS4 will be backwards compatible. If it is, there'd be no need for a port and people would still be incentivised to buy early models of the new console.

I used to be obsessed with release dates for games when I was younger and get very pissed when they were pushed back. It ALWAYS happens. It's best to forget about it until you're hit in the face with the game already out.

Better they have more time to work on the game, making it actually fun to play unlike GTA 4!

Honestly Rockstar should be commended for this, knowing they'd face huge outcry at least on the forums. I'm sure what they have now could be made just about releasable by spring and they could have patched it to oblivion for months afterwards, and that's exactly what most companies would have done. Instead they do this, which is the far better solution long term, ensuring we get a top quality product and the gamers are happy, not feeling ripped off after the company has chased the quick buck. I wish far more companies would do this. It seems quite clear they want this thing to be nothing short of a masterpiece, in as much as any GTA possibly could be.

It's like ordering from the take away that takes a little bit longer to get there instead of the one that shows up in five minutes with some barely reheated hours old crap. Sure the wait is annoying at at the time you're frustrated but it's a no brainer decision.

That's what ruined IV for me. You would be playing free roam for a few minutes and then get the phone call. But aprat from that it wasn't too bad.

Not so hard in a jet but in the dodo or cropduster you have to work very hard not to get shot down. Also the military jet had flares which helped.

This is what I did with IV. Dont think ill be able to do it with V as I have too many commitments (growing up sucks). It would be great if it was released on a Friday though.

I've never bothered with a midnight release before, but if I'm still alive when this game finally decides to come out, I think I'd be happy to pop up to Tesco and take a mooch for it alright. Get something to eat, drink, a copy of GTA V and stay up until my eyes bleed.

It's actually handy enough having Tesco selling games (with them being a 24 hour store). I wonder do there generally be many people in the stores for these midnight (big) release games.

On the upside, I heard that R* said that this September release is a delay of 5 months, which means it was originally an April release, which means those of us who said Spring was Feb-Apr were right! :pac:



Anyway, something that just occurred to me last night. Assuming that GTAV is not released on next gen consoles, will that mean we don't get DLC similar to EFLC? I mean, how likely are they to keep supporting a last gen game as opposed to just starting on GTAVI and giving V just some cosmetic DLC (multiplayer stuff, extra side missions, yadda yadda)?

It'll be interesting to see what this upcoming Sony PS announcement on the 20th Feb is all about and whether this points to an end of year PS4 release. GTAV could end up being right on the cusp with it's new release date.

That wont be an issue. Rockstar are known for giving everything 100% effort. They dont slack. Next gen consoles havnt even been announced anyway and it will take a good 2-3 years for people to fully migrate over to the new consoles aswell. Rockstar wont be releasing a new GTA for another 5-6 years. THey will have to develop a new engine after all.

Only thing I could see happening is GTAV being released on PS3, then some DLC after. Then the PS4 getting a compete edition (DLC included) along with updates to take advantage of the PS4 (better graphics, more pedestrians etc, but not including new missions or areas or anything like that).

On the latest Rebel FM episode, Arthur Gies of Polygon suggested that the next Xbox might release in August... making the dual-release a more likely scenario...

EFLC was a one off, don't expect that again. I reckon they are cramming as much as possible into V to avoid needing DLC afterwards so they can focus on VI and the new technology involved.
