Yes but all the models are pointing increasingly towards a mild winter (from what I see anyway! It always seems to win out!):(

At least things are generally positive in the country other than the lack of cold weather.

    Why are people getting depressed?

November last year was not something that happens frequently. There's a reason Irelands winter season usual is December, January and Feburary, because those are the months that are more likely to suffer from cold snaps. Winter is not over, it hasn't even started. The models arn't anything to scream about, but why are people taking FI charts so seriously? Models can change signifigantly outside of 100 hours, just think back to those many times where we've had cold signals coming into view, then boom, something went wrong and everything changed within a run. Winter is still up for grabs, so long as there's cold up north, there's potential for something to get going.

Have to agree with you John, But its nothing like netweather here, some of them just take the p**s in the model discussion

Theweatheroutlook (TWO) have new GFS and ECMWF charts up

    http://theweatheroutlook.com/twodata/datmdlout.aspx

Parameters include 850hPa/500hPa temps, MSLP, thickness etc:

    850hPa ECMWF chart:

    182421.png

Very netweathery looking but I like the wider perspective. :)

The wider perspective is very good , give a better image of the whole setup

Seems they've used the same map as meteociel that still has the USSR, Yugoslavia etc on it though

Good interface though and a lot of parameters to choose from. Could do with a pre-load option though

ECMWF this morning is decent for us in the north, 3 days of north westerlies which could give snow anyone above a few hundred metres, no signs of a lasting cold pattern though

Also, to cheer people up, here's the current CFS for Christmas Day! Showing a major change in mid December

MTC has been talking about an outbreak of cold weather in the week before or during the Christmas period.
