Post your results here, or just put 'I was pleased with how I did' if you'd rather not give your actual results (which is fair enough, nobody's business but yours).

    Either way, well done.

It means he was not assessed on part of the exam.
It may mean he missed a part or was not marked on spelling or grammar.

    All higher
    Latin- A (expected)
CSPE- A (very few As in the year, many disappointed)
    Spanish- A (surprise)
    French- A (surprise)
    History- A (expected)
Maths- A (expected)(I'm very annoyed they gave out more maths As than usual, it takes away my prestige)
Geography- B (Shock, if it wasn't very costly I would appeal)
    Science- B (expected)
    Irish- B (expected)
    English- C (expected)

Also, to all those who confidently guarantee people doing better than they expect, you're wrong, I expected 7 As but I went in feeling that so long as I got more than 5 I was very happy.

    Irish - A

    Tech Graph- A
    Maths - A
    Science- A
    English - B
    German - B
    Woodwork - B
    CSPE - B

    All Higher Level.
There was probably less A's in CSPE then in Maths. Now that I have my results, I was happy for about 10 minutes, but now I realize they have had no effect on my life whatsoever.
    Tis Gas out.

I hoped English would be a bit better, and I also thought my geo was A standard, but it's not too bad, i'm happy :) .

    You owe me 10 euro.

EDIT: I would just like to note that I'm very happy with my results even though I had expected 7. It's annoying though, I'm tied for 1st in my year of 40 with 6 As but the other guy (also one of my friends) didn't get a C, so he wins, though the school reward is for most As so hopefully we both get a medal.

9 As and 3 Bs in all honour subjects. I am absolutely delighted. A bit disappointed with Maths because I'd thought I'd definitely get an A, but when I saw I got an A in Irish I was ecstatic.

Have you ever thought people might be actually, you know, trying harder? The paper wasn't the easiest of the past decade, and me and a few others got Bs when we expected As.

Shocked about Geography too. I got more then 85% of that test spot on.

All the talk of "easy marking" and "you'll do better then you think", did not prove true in my case.

    What I got :(

    Science - B
    Maths - B :(:(
    Art - A :)
    French - B
    Irish - C
    History - A :)
    Geography - B   :(
    CSPE - A
    English - B

To an extent I'm glad I didn't get a ticket for City Hall or Savoy, I'm in no mood for it. Not going to friends gaff either as I'm pissed off with him too.

Really upset, no one else understands! They think I did well, but I expected to get about 4 A's or five and only got two. Everyone in my year thought I'd do really well, so I'm very upset.

    Maths (H) - B
    Irish (H) -B
    English (H) -B
    BST (H) - B
    Geog (H) -B
    Science (H) -B
    French (H) -B
    History (H) -B
    H.E (H) - A
    C.S.P.E. - A

This seems very average, I dunno...

Not going to lie, im absolutely over the moon. I was really worried about failing science and tech graph...

    Irish(h)C
English(h) A- Really happy with this, came up 2 grades from pre!
    French(h) B
Maths (h) B- Got the shock of my life when I looked down at my paper and saw this, still cant believe it... I struggled with it all year, came up from a D in pres!
Business(h)B- Up one grade from pres
    Geography(h) C
History(h) A- Delighted! Up a grade from pres
Tech Graph(h) C- I was completely taken by surprise when I saw this, not going to lie got 32% in pres in it. To make that jump I cant believe it.
Science(h) C- Another subject I failed in pres. 30% I think. Teacher told me I should drop I told her no, was happy in that class today
    C.S.P.E- A

    Best day ever!

Here, I'm in the exact situation as you. Don't know how it happened or what was up with the markings. I just want to go to sleep and forget it all at this stage. I know I should be delighted as my results are in probably the top 25% but I know I could've done better, and in maths and geography (the latter esp.), THOUGHT I did much better.

I know that won't help but.. but.. idk really. Its *only* the Junior Cert I guess...

Hey I'm in Leaving Cert at the mo and I did my JC 2 years ago (hard to believe). This years results are unreal! I'm glad some people are happy :)

If you're disappointed with your results, don't be. In reality they don't really count for anything (but they're still important!) When you come around to Leaving Cert, they're only a stepping stone and possibly something in which you can work on in the next 1-2 years.

I originally got a D in H.L English which I was really disappointed with, and a C in H.L Geography but I got them both re-checked and they both went up!:D

What I'm saying is that if you are not genuinely happy with what you got, talk to your teacher and do get them re-checked if you feel you need to :)

    C- german(bit disappointed)
    C- business
B-geography(thought was going to get an A going to get it appealed)
    B-art
    very proud of myself:D

    Darn you CSPE!
I'm going to appeal this subject, I feel strongly that I got an A in truth. :(

Also, did everybody have *(A supplementary report exists) at the bottom left of their Results?

    im very disappointed aswell.
I only got 4A's and I was expecting at least 6.
I went up from a C in the mocks in english to an A (really happy bout that result)

however, despite me getting an A in the mocks in my favourite subject, business, and all the studying I did for it, I only got a B

my other A's were in maths, cspe and geography

people thought I did amazing but im quite upset

All higher level except CSPE, A's in English, Irish, Maths, French, History, Geography, Science, Business, CSPE and a B in Home Ec. So 9 A's and a B.

If any aspiring JCer reads this...I'm fairly certain that I've never felt as happy as I did when I opened that envelope and saw the results...just sayin'.

    :D

Also regarding spurious' claim, I did so much better than expected, 9 A's was beyond achievable for me. Wow...so happy. So so happy.

Also, did everybody have *(A supplementary report exists) at the bottom left of their Results?

A supplementary report means there is an additional report on those results. It should be on the back of your results sheet.

It can mean that a candidate missed a part of the assessment - only sat one of two papers, failed to hand in a project, practical asignment etc., or it can mean that the candidate had an exemption for spelling and grammar marks.

It will say what the supplementary report is on the back of your sheet.

Unless your mocks were corrected by people who have corrected for and know the standards of SEC exams, they're almost useless as a guide to how you will do.

Unfortunately the mock industry is quite a big money game now, so all sorts of low standards are coming in.

If you look at other threads on boards, particularly in the Leaving Cert. forum, it's clear boards.ie does not represent the full spectrum of students.

The high number of 'I am going to get 600 points and do Medicine' posts probably intimidates others from posting.

How true the aforementioned posts are is anyone's guess. There are people who get their jollies from posting false claims about themselves. It's kind of sad really.

I know a girl who did three JC subjects at Foundation and Ordinary level and was absolutely over the moon with her A, B and C grades.
Would she post here? I doubt it.
Would some here scoff at her results? Quite possibly.
Still, she was the happiest kid in the world yesterday, even if only for a few hours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,513 ✭✭✭bb1234567

very true thanks, I even may have bumped by grades up a bit in a few results threads the odd time but only like in mocks results thread and other unimportant results threads and the such ;) but my jc results are all completely true, scouts honour:) very proud of myself:)

It depends, typically experienced teachers get good correctors. Our science corrector in the mocks couldn't count so science even with a basic marking scheme was corrected wrongly. However our history and maths papers were corrected superbly and our geog teacher deliberately got a very harsh marker (who could still mark mind you) and most of the other subjects were grand. Our English mock marker hadn't a clue.

In my year of 40 I was the only A in CSPE, SHOCK. Anyone getting a result checked? I'm going to get geog checked.
