    Well Lads
We are still waiting on Dwighet to choose a Lanyard Knot and that will be the last choice made apart from what ever develops during the Swap Day tomorrow. Dwighet is abroad this week and he'll make his choice on returning he told me that he would have limited access to a PC this week so I don't mind waiting the extra bit for him.

The big Lull is coming whereby the thread, that has seen a lot of activity over the last couple of weeks, will die down as I get on with the builds themselves. I'll try to post pics of the work and I'll keep ye up to date as far as I can with the progress but there will be down times as I'm waiting for heat treating etc. Hopefully the gaps can be filled with leatherwork and so on so I'll attempt to keep the thread as alive as I can during these times.

Timing looks good at the moment so I am fairly confident that we will be finished by early - mid December and everyone should have their knife well before xmas. I will only ask that ye be a bit paitient with me over the coming weeks as there will be periods where it seems nothing is happening but believe me with 15 knives to complete in a shortish time frame there will be plenty happening.

I hope it has been a bit of fun so far and I'll try to keep a bit of interest going but I just wanted to give ye a bit of a heads up as to what happens next.

    Davy

Often though about heading to Scotland for the goose shooting..........any chance you'll put up a few words about the trip and maybe some photos etc. when you get back?...travel arrangements, shooting good?, gun arrangements, good guide?, accomodation, the shooting etc.

Bog oak it so I guess. Davy I have no doubt each and every knife will be a fine knife and I have no doubt we will all be very happy. Thanks for the option of a swap Sat.
For my next knife build, I am planning Buckeye Maple or striped Ebony

Well it looks as though the Swap Shop went fairly trouble free :D
I take it most people were happy enough with their selections. So for me now it's on to the builds.

It's going to be strange not checking in to see what the latest choices are but really looking forward to seeing the final pieces.

Drive on Davy......but keep us in the loop though.

Seeing as the thread had dropped back to page 5,
Just a thought, would it suit you Davy and of course the lads involved to give you another few bob at some stage soon to soften the blow of trying to raise €150 just before Christmas ?
    Just a thought.…

I've no problem with that lads. If some of you want to make another payment that's fine but you are not obliged to at this point.

If anyone does want to go ahead and make another payment just PM me before hand so that I can keep things straight

    Its all happening:cool:

    How's it goin lads

All Profiles now complete and the first blade set up to grind the bevels

    grind-1.jpg

The Jig is pitched at exactly 11 degrees giving a total cutting edge of 22 degrees

I made this jig up so that I could replicate blade profiles (Handy Huh?)

    Regards

    Davy

BTW The 7UP ice bucket is for quenching water not for drinking on the job :D

Lads I've hit a big bloody snag.

We had a power outage yesterday, which isn't the end of the world I thought, until the power came back on and I discovered my Grinder wasn't working. I thought there was something wrong with the motor and called out the electrician who installed it to have a look. Fair play to him being Saturday of a bank holiday and all that, he was here in an hour. Anyway it turns out that the motor is fine. But and it's a big BUT the Three Phase inverter is shot. This means that none of my power tools are working.

The inverter is under warranty and I will have to send it away either for repair or replacement and according to the guys I bought it off it could take 2 to 3 weeks to get the replacement. This delays the entire project by 2 to 3 weeks which means I won't have the knives completed this side of Christmas as I had originally planned. It simply won't be possible

I'm really sorry about this but I never envisaged losing the entire workshop for 2 weeks. I can't do anything about it. I wish I could.

I hope this doesn't mess up anyones Christmas lads I really do apologize about it. I thought I'd better let you know straight away as it's only fair.

    Sincere apologies and Regards

    Davy
