Hey guys, thinking of selling my touchpad, its just been neglected since I got a shiny new phone! Any ideas how much it would fetch on the likes of ebay etc? Perfect condition with all the accessories etc

Sold mine a while back with the wireless dock and went and got a Galaxy Tab 10.1, best money I ever spent!

    Cheers,
    M

You do know you could've put Android on the Touchpad...? I hope you at least still have your free 50gigs of cloud storage?

Yep, but to be honest I got sick of waiting for Android to be put on it... kinda fell in love with the overall look and feel of the Galaxy Tab as well :-)

Was very annoyed with that crowd that offered the free 50GB cloud space as it was crippled by the fact that you had a ****ty limit of 100MB upload!! Most people who initially signed up got a 1GB file upload limit so when they would not give it too me I told them to delete my account!!

    Cheers,
    M

Wow, that was crappy of them. I had no problems with them myself but the service itself does seem to be far from perfect. I often have problems uploading, they sometimes seem to hang or cancel midway through.

Yeah, they really annoyed me so say feck that! Did you get a 1GB file upload limit??

Anyone want a Pre3 in exchange for a Touchpad?
    :p

I think Box.net had no such limits if you signed up through the app on the TP itself. I did sign up but am not using it - I switched to petandrive.com, 1 mil GB free :) although they are only starting and have a few issues.

The thing is I DID sign up via the TP app and still only got the 100MB limit! That is essentially what really pissed me off about them!

Same, am looking to sell my 32GB touchpad with official case (;)) since I dont use it as much as I thought I would. Are they still selling for crazy prices or what? Or would you be looking at making a loss?

I would strongly urge everyone to get splashtop streamer for the touchpad. Best 10 euro every spent.

What does it do? Have you got a linky? More information please! :)

Sorry! In my excitement I realise that I didn't give any details!!

Its a media and desktop streamer. Connects up to your computer via WiFi and gives you full control. Your desktop will appear on the touchpad and you can do what ever you like.

Once your computer is connected to the internet you can access its content anywhere you are as long as the touchpad is connected to WiFi.

It really is an amazing app.

no idea why I'm having trouble with mine - its a zyxel p600.

anyhoo been looking around (thx to iPhone and chris1970 for advice) and I'm thinking of investing in a dual band so I can dedicate the 5ghz signal to my appletv and the touchpad. d-link dir-815 seems to have all the bells and whistles and on komplett seem affordable at €68 http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/site/Catalog/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=20068924

anything else I need to be aware off before I purchase?

are you using WEP? apparently the Touchpad dosent play well with WEP. It was very slow with my router until I changed to WPA/PSK

What's the story with the CM Android port? Is there an RC or stable version yet?

But does GMote run on Touchpad? It's not listed on the App Catalog.

Think someone bought it on the Bargain Alerts thread and it did..

.. I bought one of those (identical design, make and model) for my iPad off Ebay for €22 though.

Has anyone been successful in the WebOS dev's draw and received their precious golden tickets yet?
Just curious if anyone in Europe/Ireland has gotten one, it would appear HP have gone and done it again by making a right royal T*T of it!

Yip, I'm using it just installed it, seem to be working fine, doubt i'll every boot into web OS again, WIFI, SOUND, Charging, Android Market, all working and the touch screen is way more responsive no more cursing and prodding the screen. I installed Alpha Build 2, can't seem to fault it yet.

I just followed these instructions, http://liliputing.com/2011/10/how-to-install-google-android-on-the-hp-touchpad-with-cyanogenmod7.html

Got stuck on one part and then I was fine. If your installing it you'll probably get stuck in the same place.

    **********From Instructions*************
    Click on the Start Menu.
Type “cmd” (without quotes) into the search box.
A terminal window should open up — but you’re in the wrong directory.
Type “cd c:\” and press enter to get to your root directory.
To navigate to the correct directory, type “dir” and press enter to see a list of directories.
On my computer, I next typed “cd Program Files” and hit enter, then “cd Palm, Inc” and hit enter again.
    *************************************

All the above is correct until you get to the last line where it says "cd Palm, Inc" if you download the latest sdk it's actually called "cd HP webOS" HP must have changed the name since the article was last updated. So where I ran novacom from SDK\BIN directory, make sure you put the ACME installer in the same folder as novacom.exe which lies in the HP webOS\SDK\BIN folder, this makes no sense right now but refer to it when you get stuck other than that it's a simple installation and you don't need to be a tech head to do it. Total install time about 30minutes between downloading the right files and booting into android. Would highly recommend anyone with a touch pad do it.

    :):):):):):)Yay HP Touch Droid, finally:):):):):)

    Update on Alpha 2 Android.

Only found one glitch with the new Android on it, When I woke up this morning I had to disconnect the wifi and reconnect it again before it would load a web page, I had to do the same with web os, it's not a biggy. One other thing the power button doesn't lock the touchpad it mearly sends the screen to sleep so if you touch the screen it re-awakens straight away, i'm sure it could be cured but just putting a lock on the screen, besides that i'm delighted with it. Everything is working better under android. Time to scrap web os and make the upgrade. ;)

    Maybe a dumb question:
As soon as I got it, I put the TP away for christmas. I charged it and made sure it turns on but it has never been connected to any computer. I have two Macs in the house and no physical PC (Windows on a VM on one of the Macs). The possibility dawned on me that maybe HP assumed all the Mac users would have/get iPads and so not bother with any Mac TP software. Has anyone here been using a TP with a Mac? Or will I have to fire up windows any time I need to connect the TP?

    TIA

It only needs to connects via USB mass storage, there is no desktop software required.

Ah cool. So no iTunes/iPad style syncing to be done then? Excellent!

Nope. It just acts like one big USB key. You will be fine with your Macs. Bril Christmas pressie!
