Roscommon should have as much self belief as any other provincial champion. If they view Kerry or Dublin like it's a privilege to just be on the pitch with them, to just 'have a day out in Croke Park' Then they will get steamrolled.

Roscommon are 3 wins away from an All Ireland title. Fck the holidays in Ibiza, Now is not the time to take your eyes off the prize

but, Murtagh and Compton have returned to training

We do have an awful fear factor of coming across any ways positive...in case we end up with egg on our face. Great news on Murtagh and Compton, any update on ultan's injury?

Harney won't be playing any more IC football this season. Anyone expecting him back doesn't know how much the injury has effected his ability to do basic things like kick the ball.

He had two options with the back injury, surgery or rest. He's chosen resting it, and resting it means no miracle comebacks at county or club in the near future. If rest doesn't solve it surgery will be the only option and that brings with it even longer on the blocks and a very tricky rehab.

So that's it. Roscommon are playing Mayo. Out of the 3 teams that they could have met. Mayo was the one I didn't want for Roscommon. Their Experience, and more specifically experience in Croke Park will stand to them and make them hot favourites.

Well sure by all accounts Mayo supporters have themselves already in the semi final with getting Roscommon in the quarter, if you're to read their disregard for Roscommon on here and other forums. Agreed I didn't want them either given our record against them in recent years but sure maybe it's about time we stand up and break the poor record and affirm ourselves as the competitive team we want to be.

Looks like Connachts the strongest province right now :)

Not sure how to read this game. Mayo have all the experience and an Indian sign over us for nigh on 25 years. They comfortably beat us in the league in second gear yet haven't really impressed in any championship game this year but still they will come in battle hardened while we haven't been tested at all.

I dont see anything with the Mayo's this year to be scared of, there cat at the back k so our foewards will get plenty of chances. I hope the talk of them being out foreign is not true, crazy if it is, the Galways giving Donegal a big beating makes us look even better, mayo will be tired after playing the extra time too, time to beat these bastards

Kerry in 2009 struggled through the qualifiers and yet blitzed Dublin in the quarters so you can't always go on qualifier form especially the top teams. Remember Mayo haven't lost a quarter final since 2009 either while Roscommon have never won one.

Bookies have us as massive underdogs, Boyle have Roscommon at 4/1. I wonder what the odds would be had Mayo beat Galway in Galway by 9 points in Connacht final and we had come through the qualifiers... probably 25/1 lol

On here? Where exactly do you read that? No real Mayo fan have themselves in any quarter final

The same thing was done for last 2 games, don't see what the big deal is.

they did the same the week of connacht final - nobody noticed...
means there's no media around roscommon all week
allows players get on with preparation
allows starting 15 to train as a unit all week

Cathal Compton was named on the team a week before Connacht final and got injured in training. He was replaced by Cian Connolly the scorer on that first goal.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMcXqxM6c5U

Mayo will more than likely win the game by 2 or 3 points in the last few minutes just like the rest of their championship games this year.

Kevin was on Off The Ball over the weekend (it's on podcast too if you're that way inclined) really playing down our chances. Essentially this run has come too early and is just hoping to compete. I would hope the spiel in training the last week or so is somewhat different!

Good move on management's part naming the team early again IMO.

All about the performance on Sunday. If we tear into the game like we did in the CF, we'll give ourselves a chance. Mayo haven't exactly set the world alight and I have a feeling they've got one eye on a semi final against Kerry. We haven't performed in Croker in a long time (bar a couple of league finals), so time to set that right.
