What was your First Game Console?

Do you still have it, or use any other really old one?

The oldest thing I have is the First Gameboy and it still works. Played Donkey Kong the other day.

Housemate looked at me as if I was mad. Still have a phone that's got Snake too :)

Was actually offered an Xbox on the cheap from a guy leaving here when I moved in, but wasnt bothered. Its probably just Nostalgia for me.

What about you ? Got anything that, when you look at it, seems to enter you into a time warp?

Still use anything the odd time to see if it works whether it be PSX, Gameboy, Sega MegaDrive, Atari Jaguar :D etc?

    NES!

Had Duck Hunt with the gun. Great craic! And some Karate game with two guys going back and forward on a white line on a blue screen...I still have the cartridges but the console broke about 3 weeks after I got it (it was second hand, think it got damaged on the plane home).

Here's a pic for those of you who are too young to remember.

    http://cdn2.iofferphoto.com/img3/item/808/228/11/nes-games-a-z-for-the-playstation-2-c3e05.jpg

EDIT: Also had the Sega Mega and far too many consoles after that...

The Megadrive, still have it, I had a serious Sonic addiction...

That has to be the most confusing Atari Jaguar option, does it mean Atari Jaguar or Atari Jaguar?

    I clicked 'other'

We got a CBS Colecovision way back in 1983, it came with Ladybug, Donkey kong, Cosmic avanger, Space panic, Venture, Looping and Smurf.

    Here it is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ColecoVision

It was a pretty deadly console. Its in the attic, all working, controllers and all. :)

That was followed up with a Megadrive, then Ps2 and Ps3.

There was an Atari Lynx knockin around too.

I'm gonna leave my masculinity up to be scrutinized by saying I really liked Kirby's Dreamland.

A lotta sucking and blowing but it was unreal.
Probably the only game I ever completed

    NES

followed soon after by the Mega Drive. Found some old games for it in my brothers room. Currently in the process of planning to steal borrow them without him knowing.

Then all I have to do is find someone with a MegaDrive and borrow it or somehow buy one. Then buy a TV for my room and keep the sound down low. With the door locked and he will never know!!! :D
Plus he'll never get to tell me I can't play ever again!!! :p

Extreme measures...but it would be worth it :pac:

I remember waiting at a friends house for C64 tapes to load.... 45 mins and you have to start again if someone slams a door on the other side of the house.

    Shìte poll.

First console we had was, techinically, a pong console from the 70's that still works (unlike a certain Xbox 360 that died within 6 months )

After that was the Nes, I remember it being Xmas day and us plopping in the Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt cartridge and having great craìc with the zapper. I was always useless at the clay pigeon.

After that the brother won an early Snes in a nationwide Nintendo competition. They sent us all of the 20 or so launch titles over a space of a year and a half. He went on to win all of the other Nintendo competitions for a few years, winning more Snes consoles and Gameboys. He gave it up eventually since the parents weren't so fond of video games........and I guess other things he indulged in like socialising with people :pac:

Beating him in games made me feel like a God of underdogs :D

    Same here.

I find the idea that an N 64 was someone's first game system to be, i don't know why, but funny. It's like someones first lay being Monica Belluci after starting out with a Sinclair.

    Wot no Binatone.

You had to have played tennis, football and shooting on a binatone to appreciate just how brilliant the N64 was.

    Atari Jaguar
A NES, with Isolated Warrior and Super Mario 2.

My dad got it for me at Christmas when it was right at the end of its run and point blank refused to buy me more games for it as they were, quote "too expensive". One day, around 2 or 3 years, later we stumbled upon a heap of NES games reduced to £1 or less in Comet. After literally begging for hours, he agreed to buy me two games, and he chose them, (the two cheapest at 35p each). I never even got to chose even one game for the goddam thing and my parents would always give out to me for never using it. (I had finished the 4 games he got me numerous times, and all the friends that had a NES and long since upgraded to SNES's or Megadrives, my borrowing options were severely limited.) I packed it up, in the original package (games in original boxes and all) and stuffed it in back of my wardrobe.

When we were moving to Ireland from London, my parents told us we were only allowed to bring one toy each. I picked a bunch a teddies I'd had since I was a baby so the NES was left behind. It absolutely killed me to watch my parents give my mint in the box NES away to their terror of a Godson who instantly opened it up, jumped on the box and smashed it.

I still can't/won't forgive them for that.

After that, gameboy, n64, ps2, gamecube, Xbox, Wii, 360. And I'd consider myself a pc gamer :p
