So lads, what do you think will happen to your championships with the restrictions likely to be extended in Kildare for another 2 weeks minimum? Will they just void the whole thing?

    Yeh might have to do.

Still think though if they had any balls they would void the first round in football and re configure it. Go knock and tell teams they will be playing twice a week until the end. Why not? Why can't they do that?

Hurling could be run off it two weeks.

County championships should be played even if the GAA plough ahead with their inter-county plans. Finish it up in the depths of winter if needs be.

I'd agree KD but it doesn't need to be played that way. Let's revert proper championship football an hurling here and just go hell for leather. No reason why it can't happen either and there would be buy in too.

Next year would be an ideal time for a restructure. The only reason they brought in this crazy round-robin was they needed more games to fund the revamp of the county grounds. Realistically, that's going to be put on the back burner for at least a few years.

The number of teams in the SFC should be reduced. Sarsfields and Moorefield are way out in front and Celbridge and Athy are best of the rest by a distance. Looking at some of the recent results, it's hard to justify a 16 team SFC. Take Confey for example, league champions not so long ago and now struggling to field a team.

Clubs would be put out by regrading but they would probably be better off in the long run. IFC is always seriously competitive. Expand the number of teams in the JFC. Kerry have a Novice Championship for clubs below the Junior grade. Could be worth looking at for the smaller clubs like Ardclough, Athgarvan, Kildangan.

What was the format before this year? Meath went with four groups of four teams. Originally it was meant to be top 2 and bottom 2 in each group going to the quarter finals and relegation playoffs respectively. Due to covid it was changed to just the top and bottom in each group meaning that there are a number of dead rubbers in the final round next weekend. Kildare's format seems quite good in comparison. Though that may be because we were stuck with the ridiculous format of three groups of 6 for years.

Kildare is 4 groups. Top in quarters, 2nd and 3rd play 3rd and 2nd from another group for a shot at quarters. Bottom team into relegation semis.

Hearing they're considering finishing club championships in Kildare after Kildare are knocked out from AI Championship so you be looking at possibly December before it's all wrapped up.

Retired myself this year, glad now that I did. Don't envy lads trying to deal will this.

Yeh gave it up myself too. Joke stuff. Go knockout and play it off asap. All about getting bums on seats and making a few grand per game. Will lads play inti december like that.

Been quiet on this forum lately so its good to see some club talk again!

    Predictions:

Some very interesting ties for the quarters and aside from the Sars/Raheens game I could see either team winning the other 3 ties.
However, there can only be one winner:

Sarsfields v Raheens- Sarsfields by 6
    Moorefield v JTB - Moorefield by 4
Athy v Round Towers - Athy by 2
Celbridge v Clane - Clane to make the semi final breakthrough with a 2 point win

    Outright:
Again, its difficult to anticipate anyone outside of Newbridge winning it outright.
Sars would have to be favourites based upon current form but how many times have Moorefield been written off before they went to the well and proven everyone wrong?

    I'll go with Moorefield.

    Results:

    Sarsfields 2-14 Raheens 2-6
    Moorefield 1-18 JTB 2-9
    Athy 0-19 Round Towers 1-6
    Celbridge 1-18 Clane 0-7

    Fixtures:

    Celbridge v Moorefield
    Athy v Sarsfields

Hard to call from this point. Player availability and fitness levels will be crucial factors.

Moorefield got off to a slow start v JTB and they won't get away with that against Celbridge. Masterson will be a big loss for them no doubt. Celbridge weren't tested at all and that my not be the best thing for them either. Moorefield battle hardened at this stage but I'd still expect Celbridge to progress.

Sarsfields and Athy had straight forward wins also. That'll be a really interesting and tight game you'd think. Sarsfields will have the experience of winning Semi Final after Semi Final but the like of Felly Kelly and Hyland are hitting their prime and Foley isn't getting any younger. They will feel that they won't have to many more chances.

Appears the Celbridge contingent have withdrawn from the Kildare set up for this season over irregularities cited above in the semi-final defeat on Saturday.

It's 3 usual starters I guess although probably not much of a season to be missing anyway.

Didn't see either match at the weekend so I've no clue either way, the article doesn't look great on paper but I suppose that's GAA up and down the country.

Blame the ref. That's the go to excuse to remove any responsibilty from themselves.

See David Slattery has retired as well. Surprising timing with him and Kelly.

Absolute scandal some of the frees that were given to Moorefield.

Were they frees by the letter of the law?

Moores very quiet this week. They fairly laid into officials last week when Masterson was rightly sent off. When things go their way they are happy out though

    Kildare football in a nutshell.

Lose a game and throw your toys out of the pram.

Terrible attitude and no wonder we are seen as soft.

    Tend to agree.

What I would say is though when reffing decisions went against Moorefield it was accepted for them to throw the toys of the pram and whinge to the local journalists eyc. But now a Northern Kildare team has an issue with a Referee they are maligned. To me thats double standards.

I streamed both games. I didn't think the ref was that bad and Celbridge lost because they didn't play good enough. Sure a lot of decisions went against them but a free is a free.

In the second game Ref was excellent. Athy were brilliant also and didnt let Sarsfields play at all. I think they will win the final.

Delighted for Athy and the Cloghs. Still beyond me how the ref was let do it after his comment. Did well today to be fair, although it wasn't that difficult a game to do. I'm sure we haven't heard the last of it.
Get over it. This isn't the Premier League.

He's the best ref in Kildare so that's why he was chosen. Excellent again today.
