TMH player was stretchered off in the first half. The injury time in the second half seemed to be a combination of injuries, melees and the referee playing for a draw.

christ, say there was uproar by TMH, yeah?

They only have themselves to blame to be honest. Their discipline let them down in the last few Towers attacks. I'd give them a good shout again in the replay.

    Sarsfields 2-13 Moorefield 0-15 FT

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

The penalty was a crucial moment. Sarsfields didn't really deserve to go in only a point down. Moorefield had dominated for the most part and only got a point from three good goal chances. Sarsfields were much improved after the break. Once Roli saw red the game was up for Moorefield. Shea Ryan was excellent at full back and would have been my man of the match. Sarsfields are capable of making their mark in Leinster but they will need to get more out of McCormack who could never really escape from Liam Healy today. They'll probably need Matty Byrne and Sean Dempsey to add a bit of size too. As slick as their forward unit are they are quite light.

The less said about the officiating today, the better.

Wonder will Moorefield be in trouble for finishing with 15 men?

    Leinster JFC Quarter Final:

    Kilcullen 0-14 St Patrick's (Carlow) 1-10

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

    IFC Final Replay:

Round Towers 1-3 Two Mile House 0-6 (HT)

Both sides down to 14 men. Peter Kelly straight red and Barry Waters for a second yellow in separate incidents during first half injury time. Chris Healy having a much greater say on matters than the drawn game from the half forward line.

    IFC Final replay:

Round Towers 2-11 Two Mile House 1-13

    Towers are Intermediate champions.

Daryl Flynn has retired from inter county football. Hasn't featured much in the last few years but he was a key player when Kildare were competitive from 2009 to 2011. His early injury against Down in 2010 was a serious loss.

Speaking of the Down match, saw that clip of Johnny Doyle's catch in the last minute again yesterday that led to that last minute Rob Kelly crossbar heartbreak :( Unbelievable fielding under so much pressure.

    U21HC Final:

    Naas 2-18 Celbridge 0-5

Naas seem to be the coming force at both codes. An U21 hurling championship to go with the minor hurling and minor football championships. Their U21 footballers in the semi finals after a huge win over defending champions Balyna.

It's good to see the club on the rise after years of underachievement because it can only be good news for Kildare. It will be interesting to see how they manage the dual player issue in the years ahead.

Naas have always been good underage though. They just dont bring enough lads through to their senior team. That being said i was very impresseed with their minor team this year. The standard in the kildare mfc this year was exceptional. My own club fancied our chances to win it out. We bet all the top teams from Meath and Dublin in challenges and were in flying form but that was a serious naas minor team who were well managed. Hopefully they can be the club to knock the newbridge clubs off their perch

Naas have always been good underage though.

They've always been strong (inevitable given their numbers) but they have never been dominant to this extent across both codes.

In underage hurling, they would have been behind Confey and particularly Celbridge for the past fifteen years or so. Football wise Athy were the underage kingpins when the likes of Kelly, Hyland, Feely, Mulhall and co were coming through. Celbridge would have been their main challengers and won plenty themselves over the last decade. Sarsfields have had a few excellent crops in recent years.

This Naas group appear to have had unprecedented success at u14 and u16. They won two All Ireland titles in the space of a few weeks in 2014, the Division 1 football feile and the Division 2 hurling feile. They won the Division 1 hurling feile shield this year beating Sixmilebridge in the final. Their u16 hurlers have won the Kilkenny Hurling League Shield for the last two years, beating Ballyhale 6-12 to 0-6 in 2015 and Lisdowney by 1-19 to 2-11 last month.

Yes there u16 team at the minute is something special. Good luck to them, they are putting the work in at the minute. Other clubs take note.

Naas have had always had plenty of underage talent, but equally they have a bad track record of holding onto players once they leave secondary school and particularly with hurling teams, it'll be interesting to see if they can convert the underage success in the way the Celbridge have, Clane in the past were particularly dominant at both codes and couldnt convert that into senior hurling titles, its no easy task
