You're on a roll today.

The players won't decide, they can't choose what games they can play, there's lots of time and money invested in these lads, if they're told they can play club championship, they will have to.

Clubs won't put pressure on the young lads themselves but they will let their feelings known with the CB. Again, it's the clubs who have produced these players and it's only right they can use them for championship. The likes of Ballyteague and Clogherinkoe rely heavily on Hyland and Robinson, not every club can field 3 or 4 teams like the Sarsfields and Moorefields of this world.

    Sorry, what???

EDIT: Oh, I just recall, you were the poster who jumped on a post I wrote yesterday and called it ridiculous without understanding what the point of the post is. And then when I did explain, you didn't reply.

Why the need to resort to that? Its only a discussion forum.

You are right about that, I suppose (the club v county thing but wasnt there a similar situation last year and I dont recall much controversy?)

And I know for sure Hyland wont be playing as he is a family friend and the club have told him they wont want him to play.

They should be allowed to play if they so wish but realistically there are only handful of players affected. The players from the big senior clubs like Masterson, Dempsey, Marnell, Costigan, Archbald, Mullins, Shaw are not likely starters on their club's senior team. It does affect the smaller clubs like Ballyteague with Hyland, Monasterevan with O'Toole, Sallins with Foley and possibly Kilcock with Gibbons and the two Clane players.

Looking at the fixtures most of those clubs are out next weekend: Monasterevan and Sallins on Friday, Ballyteague and Kilcock on Saturday, Clane on Sunday. The minor semi final will still be three weeks away next Sunday.

What did Hyland do to get the red card, if anyone was at the game? Saw this photo which was just before the black card.

No minors allowed to play club championship this or next weekend.

Does this crap go on in other counties?

Its only right in my opinion. It's not every day they will get to a all Ireland semi final.
They are only young lads at the moment and need to be minded.

They were well minded last year yet they didn't turn up against Tipp.

Fu*k the clubs, they don't matter.

Is draw for round 3 on tonight?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Round 2 isn't finished until next Sunday so I'd guess not.

Suncroft cruising against Straffan at the moment. Fionn Dowling carrying on his good form.

    Athy 3-22 Clane 1-6

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

That's a desperate result for Clane. Athy were far from full strength.

It's looking like Allenwood will join Clane, Monasterevan and Eadestown in the SFC relegation playoff. They trail Carbury 0-11 to 0-3 at half time in Newbridge.

    SFC R2:

    Carbury 2-18 Allenwood 0-7

1-8 for Eoghan O'Flaherty. Hopefully the next game between Celbridge and Naas is a better contest.

I'd try to get to a club game or two most weekends. Often more entertaining and better value for money than the inter county stuff.
