Ciaran Fitzpatrick, Gavin Farrell and David Whyte start in place of Ollie Lyons, Cian O'Donoghue and Matty Byrne.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Adam Tyrrell doing his chances no harm so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Kildare lead by 4 points at half time. Adam Tyrrell has kicked 6, 4 coming from play. Ryan Houlihan was impressing but picked up a black card late in the half. Referee and linesman somehow missed the DIT player involved in the tackle throwing a nasty elbow. Dan Flynn looks sharp. Peter Kelly having a good battle with Tomás O'Connor.

Not really to be honest. Cotsy was lively when introduced but the game was long over at that stage.

Be interested in hearing how O Connor does...

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Kildare lead by 3 at half time although we have played in the first half with a decent breeze. Dan Flynn and Cathal McNally are performing well again. Eanna O'Connor is playing out on the forty and is linking the play well. Offaly have probably had more possession but they have kicked some bad wides.

    Kildare 0-13 Offaly 0-11

I thought Cian O'Donoghue did his chances no harm. Morgan O'Flaherty was good for a player who has been away for a while. Interesting to see who makes the cut before the league starts in Mullingar.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Great result for Scoil Mhuire of Clane beating St Pat's of Navan in the Leinster Colleges quarter final this afternoon by two points, 2-8 to 0-12.

I taught ray cahill would of got a chance in the league.
I hope the likes of mickey conway and a few of the other veterans are also dropped. Ya don't see brian Cody hanging on to lads for the sake of it. It's about winning.

I think a few people are jumping the gun a bit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,492 ✭✭✭roy rodgers

I don't know. I've a funny feeling having enna o connor could be another séanie Johnston saga.
After all o Neill was the man who got him into moorefield.
    The conspiracy starts!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

    They're chalk and cheese really.

Johnston was parachuted in straight to the senior set up in a farcical manner by McGeeney. The hurling stunt on the eve of a Leinster semi final was a serious embarrassment. St Kevin's was simply a flag of convenience and everyone knew he never had any intention of settling in Kildare. He just wanted to play inter county football after falling out with the Cavan management.

Eanna O'Connor has been living in Naas for two and a half years at this stage and is a primary school teacher in Kilcullen. He has earned his chance on his club form. If you were picking the best club forwards in Kildare over the last two seasons he would certainly be in the top 10 which should be enough to get him a place on the panel.

What do people think are the big shocks/omissions etc here?

There was lots of talk about ray cahill who didn't make the cut. Also morgan oflaherty - anybody else?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

I'd say Fogarty is the biggest omission.

There are a few lads there who are fortunate on what I've seen recently.

Heard Fogarty has a back injury so probably of a case of getting that right and I'd imagine he'll be back on it
