My last purchase from Creation was delivered last week (ordered 12th December). Wasn't home, so had to collect it at the post office. The duty was 23% of the value (VAT) plus EUR10 admin charge

The post office could not take any cards. Only cash. And they have no change. Luckily I had the exact cash on me. I guess it's the same for the postman at your door. Welcome to the public sector in Ireland in 2019

Creation? It's never taken more than a week for me. A couple of times 2-3 days.

Maybe you went for a premium shipping option? Creation watches is based in Hong Kong. I usually pick free shipping, cheapskate that I am :)

Their default option is DHL Express Priority (2-4 days worldwide), which is free. That's what i've always opted for (although sometimes it was Fedex who were actually used).

Their other option is airmail 10-14 days without watch box, also free .. I assume this option is for people trying to evade customs.

I can see how an airmail shipment from Hong Kong in mid December could take weeks to arrive. But the option for much faster delivery is there for those who want it. One year I ordered from them on 17th Dec; I received the item in time for xmas.

Seiko SKX009 €177 shipped from Eglobal (use code JUST599 for discount)
    https://www.eglobalcentral.eu/seiko-mens-blue-dial-divers-200m-automaticwatch-skx009k1.html
They handle import duties so that's the price paid to your door.

Same watch €140 shipped from CreationWatches using code NEWYEAR
    https://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-divers-automatic-90/seiko-automatic-divers-skx009-skx009k1-skx009k-mens-watch-1454.html
This does not include customs or handling charges so factor them in.

I've got two watches from them both came in about a week. First came with Fed Ex despite me selecting the post option. Fed Ex used the value Creation put on the box for the VAT.

Second came with DHL. Got an email requesting proof of payment. Transaction wasn't itemised on my credit card yet so just sent them the email receipt showing €112 for watch and 0 for shipping. Got a email back next day for amount that was higher than expected with no explanation of the breakdown. Was only just under €16 higher but still annoying.

Took a few phone calls and several email's. Was told as shipping was't included on shipping invoice they had added that on even though my receipt from Creation showed shipping was free. Was told then it would be corrected and I would get an email with updated amount. Heard nothing more till I got notification it was out for delivery. Sent another email requesting an update and delivery driver rang saying he could only deliver if I had paid. Paid it just to get the watch hoping I'd be able to get a refund afterwards.

Finally got a breakdown after complaining to them about how it was handled.

    Declared value of goods 112.00
    Applied freight 68.49
    Total taxable 180.49
    VAT @ 23% 41.51
    DHL Admin fee 14.50
    Total to be paid 56.01

Was told information I had provided didn't show shipping cost and customs had applied it and it wouldn't be changed now. I gave up at stage I'd already spent more time and effort than the €15.76 was worth

Would be very slow to order from creation again if using DHL

    My experience...

I got a seiko from them at christmas on DHL
watch was 124, fees were 42€
I was sent an email requesting the fees, which i paid straight away online
had the watch two hours later

    rgds

So that Seiko 5 I was looking at is €74 euro. Are you saying it will cost closer to €110-€120?
You should be prepared to pay around €106. I can't say exactly what it will cost but that's a rough figure that you should use to determine if you can afford it, if it is good value, if it can be gotten cheaper in Europe etc.

I have ocassionally been charged less than expected. As you can see from other comments, sometimes people end up paying more. This is the nature of buying from outside the EU.

Ooh, nice, been eyeing this one up for a while, looks awesome on a bond or plain black 18mm nato.

Unofficially known as "The casino royale" due to it being the closest in style to the seiko sports 100 that's easy to come by, worn by Moore in octopussy. (the sports 100 is not easy to come by!)

I was joking, the watch looks like an Oyster Perpetual from Rolex.

That's where the Seiko Oyster Perpetual came from :D

Due to be delivered on Wednesday, so that's a pretty good delivery time from Creation Watches.

I'll put up some pictures when I get it.

The plan with this is to buy lots of straps for it and make it my everyday work watch ;)

@2shea. I always had a thing for watches but in summer 17 bought one of those Seikos. My first automatic watch. Followed by a kinetic in Jan 18 plus another Seiko 5 with black dial and numbers with good lume and have just received a turtle!!

Brings total to 11 but all low

value but the itch is still there!

    You could be right!

I had thought of one for a while but as much as I love Seiko I think I would be going Swiss or German over €1000 even though the MM300 is just as good as anything out there!

Casio chronograph with solar charging and sapphire crystal for €126 from watchshop (using code PAY15)
    https://www.watchshop.com/mens-casio-edifice-carbon-dial-watch-efs-s520cdb-1auef-p100021907.html
Not a bad price for solar + sapphire crystal.

Is it actually a sapphire crystal or is that just the model name?

I've often admired those edifices online but then I went hands on with a few in a jewellers I was a bit disappointed with the quality. I thought they were a bit chintzy.

Yes, it is legit sapphire crystal.

I agree, the lower-end Edifice can be a bit chintzy, looking better from a distance than up close. Tbh I find most steel chronos in the €100 range to be chintzy, with cheap hollow-link bracelets etc. That goes for Seiko, Citizen etc. It is what it is, you get what you pay for. It's compounded if you're looking in a brick & mortar jewellers because you could be looking at a €100 watch with €200 price tag. (this particular model is €250 rrp)

As you go up the Edifice range their build gets better - i've seen some in the €200-300 range (referring to online/discounted prices) that are comparable to a similar priced Citizen.

In this case I don't think you'll get a Seiko or Citizen chrono with sapphire for €126. So hard to compare.

Your one is a Tuna clone and not the same as the MM300 that emo is talking about. Take a look at the SBDX017 or it's other variants, I believe there is a Merkur version also.
