Hi All,
I am selling my GAMSAT notes. To give you some background, I have just finished my first year in Graduate Medicine in UL which was brilliant. I came from a non science background so needed a bit more help than most in the sciences – particularly chemistry.

I did the Full Prep GRADMED course in London and have the full set of booklets. This course was great because they cover pretty much every topic that could come up in the GAMSAT. The only issue, as with the Des O’ Neill notes is that the booklets do not go into a huge amount of detail (they are more summaries) and there is a presumption that you already have a level of physics/chemistry competency. As a result, many topics went over my head and I found a lot of the university chemistry books complex and difficult to understand.

To really understand Physical and Organic Chemistry, I got Chemistry grinds from a university lecturer who specialises in the GAMSAT section 3. I went to approximately 40 classes and covered every topic in the GRADMED/DES O NEILL course outline in detail. (Sparrow3 went to the same guy). I have detailed notes on each topic and have supporting notes which he gave me.

I also partook in a study group which focused purely on Section 2 essays. The best advice I got prior to the exam was to practice, practice, practice essays and to cover as many topics as possible to give me as wide a knowledge base as possible. As a group, we identified 30 broad topics and 5 quotes under each topic ( war, morality, social prejudice, etc). We then each took a quote and wrote an essay. As a result, I have 50+ essays on a variety of section A and Section B essays.

Adjunct to that I have Leaving Cert Books and the ‘…for Dummies’ series, sample papers, and UKCAT & HPAT papers which are also useful.

Gave it another shot and really studied for the GAMSAT Ireland held in March 2011 while finishing my final year at university.

My undergrad is in mechanical engineering, so, in theory, I was only really prepared for the 20% of section 3 which is physics. However, I even had difficulty with the physics as most of it is not related to what I have studied.

So I was pretty much a newbie in all sections.

Griffiths GAMSAT Review 2010 & books recommended by him

Griffiths GAMSAT Review 2010 edition: This guide was the core to my GAMSAT studies. I strongly suggest you buy it, if not from me than anyone else. I bought this guide for £25 in 2010. The GAMSAT review guide for 2011 is now selling for £34.95. I don’t know if it has any extra content over the 2010 edition.

Price is so low because this is a printed version (black and white) of the PDF book, I used it all the time so it has lots of notes, highlighted parts and doodles (tend to doodle when I get bored of studying) on it. But you can definitely still study from it.

I don’t suggest reading them all, especially before you attempt the task. I am missing the tasks for session 1 but have all the other notes for it.

· Des O’Neil Prognostic Preparatory Test: 50 GAMSAT style Humanities and Science MCQ’s with explained answers.

· Science Revision Course Book: Similar layout to Medprep science book. I didn’t use it because I used the Letts books. HOWEVER, the end of the book includes 150 GAMSAT style Section 3 MCQ’s with explained answers which were worth doing.

· Practising MCQ’s Book: 400 science and humanities GAMSAT style MCQ’s and a Full length GAMSAT practice test. All questions include explained answers. The book also includes missing answer explanations from the ACER Sample Questions and explanations for all the answers in the ACER Practice Test.


Most materials are in great condition, no marks or anything. I made sure while studying not to mark or highlight as I knew I was going to sell everything once I had finished.

The only parts with some marks are:
· Griffiths GAMSAT Review: see product description.
· The first 3 sessions of the Des essay notes have some doodles on them, but otherwise in good condition.
· The Letts AS & A2 chemistry book has some highlighted sections with a few written notes but it is all very neat.
· The Letts AS & A2 biology book has some highlighted parts but not many.
Everything else is in very good condition.

Answer B is the closest possible answer of the choices provided (i.e.120m).

B.Course book: Physical Chemistry: Acids & Bases: p. 519: Diagram at bottom left is correct but incorrectly labelled. "H+ ions exceed OH-" instead of "OH- ions exceed H+". Diagram at bottom right is correct but incorrectly labelled. "OH- ions exceed H+" instead of "H+ ions exceed OH-".

C.Course book: Physical Chemistry: Acids & Bases: p. 521: NH3 is incorrectly drawn. "N" should be in the centre of the molecule rather than "H".

D.Course book: Physical Chemistry: Acids & Bases: p. 533: Binary acidity increases in strength from the left to the right of a period in the periodic table. Diagram is correct while text is incorrect (i.e. Binary acidity increases in strength from the right to the left of a period). pg. 536: Monoatomic anionic bases increase in strength from the RIGHT of a period to the LEFT (not vice versa).

E.Course book: Physical Chemistry: Phase Equilibria: p. 496: Quick Questions: Question 5: Answer should include "600 cal divided by 80cal/g" instead of "600 cal x 80cal/g".

I am selling my GAMSAT notes. To give you some background, I have just finished my first year in Graduate Medicine in UL which was brilliant. I came from a non science background so needed a bit more help than most in the sciences – particularly chemistry.

I did the Full Prep GRADMED course in London and have the full set of booklets. This course was great because they cover pretty much every topic that could come up in the GAMSAT. The only issue, as with the Des O’ Neill notes is that the booklets do not go into a huge amount of detail (they are more summaries) and there is a presumption that you already have a level of physics/chemistry competency. As a result, many topics went over my head and I found a lot of the university chemistry books complex and difficult to understand.

To really understand Physical and Organic Chemistry, I got Chemistry grinds from a university lecturer who specialises in the GAMSAT section 3. I went to approximately 40 classes and covered every topic in the GRADMED/DES O NEILL course outline in detail. (Sparrow3 went to the same guy). I have detailed notes on each topic and have supporting notes which he gave me.

I also partook in a study group which focused purely on Section 2 essays. The best advice I got prior to the exam was to practice, practice, practice essays and to cover as many topics as possible to give me as wide a knowledge base as possible. As a group, we identified 30 broad topics and 5 quotes under each topic ( war, morality, social prejudice, etc). We then each took a quote and wrote an essay. As a result, I have 50+ essays on a variety of section A and Section B essays.

Adjunct to that I have Leaving Cert Books and the ‘…for Dummies’ series, sample papers, and UKCAT & HPAT papers which are also useful.
