University of Limerick - Who's going?

Hey guys. I thought I'd make this thread to see if many are going to UL in September (hopefully.)

My name is Hollie and I just kinda want to get to know or maybe have a chat with anybody who is going to the college as nobody in my whole school has chosen Limerick..Galway and Dublin seem to be top choices for them.

So if you're going to Limerick, what course are you hoping to do and how many points do you need?

I'm hoping to do Education with Materials/Architectural Technology, I need 440 points but I'm feeling like I'll hit the points

Me, hopefully! Hoping to do Language, Literature and Film. Most of my school seems to be going to Limerick- either that or UCC! I need between 360 and 400 points I think.

You'll be grand... most people make all new friends in university anyway!

UL! I'm hoping for computer engineering but with maths paper 1 being a disaster I'll have to take the special maths exam to get into the course.

Yeah it's like a bi-annual thing that they have. I've seen that from a three year lurking period on the UL forum :pac:

Now that the time has finally come for me to go to UL we may as well take over and ensure it happens this September. As far as I know nobody took it upon themselves to organise it this year. I'm sure a few of us can do it this year

It would put us all at ease I think. :rolleyes:

I'm doing Arts in English and History Need around 360. That's my second choice. First is just arts but is about 435 points

They start in August? Wow..I didn't know that. I probably will try going before the offers and results then but if not then we'll see. All I know is I have to be down to get my keys for my accommodation and pay the first half of the fees in late August time

I sent mine off aswell yay Where did you apply to ? I think I put down Plassey as first preference.

I think ive Plassey down first. I was kinda torn between Kilmurray and Plassey but I doubt theres much difference between the two

I think I put down Plassey as mine too. If it was the cheapest then it's the one as my first preference :L Did you put mixed or non-smoking or anything?

Me too! 2 of my friends are doing it too. Should be class.

A lot of my friends are in UL and they see it's brilliant.

Yeah I think I put mixed for the gender thing and then no preference for the smoking thing. ooo I cant wait!! I wonder if i'll end up with a Limerick accent :rolleyes: Im from Meath.

I am too.. if I get the points which seems highly unlikely as I completely fcuked up history today
But still my 3 first choices are in UL lol
1 language with concurent teacher education
2 language litterature anf film
3 european studies

You thought the history paper was bad? I personally loved it I am absolutely thrilled with French and History

Ah yes, I can't wait either I am from Mayo but am originally from North Yorkshire in England so I have my english accent still :L I doubt I'll be able to shake it haha.

I don't think there's ever been a History paper that's technically good or bad, just depends what you have prepared. For me, despite being an A student all year and working till the cows come home to keep my grades up, It was a train wreck- not a single Irish essay I could really do, only half of one of my prepared Nazi essays was usable since they asked pre-ww2, and my MLK essay was just a boycott essay with his name thrown in a few more times. I left about 40 minutes early- as ye know, you should be running out of time for History not leaving early. Gutted about it. Worst part is, I didn't bother studying for Irish since I didn't need it for UL. Now, if I fail both Irish and History.... no courses for me.

Just think really positively. Unfortunately none of the stuff I studied came up but everything that did come up was stuff I could really bluff my way through and write a decent four pages. I actually don't do Irish so I really have to do well for all my subjects I'm sure History went well, you just feel that it went bad. Just be optimistic I'm sure we'll see you in UL this year

I'm going to UL Well hopefully if i can get the points and i've plassey down as first pref since february so ya never know, any of us could be living together come september :P

Was very happy with French but for History, I just felt there was too much questions on key personalities and I didnt study that a whole lot. Plus I never expected they would put up Stalin 2 years in a row

I have English and New Media down, and also just Arts! Who knows, we might end up in the same classes. :P

It was 375 last year. It's my second choice though. But I'll be doing English with my first choice too. I love English if you couldn't tell.

This is quite a good idea for a thread, if more were made with each college it would be a great way to meet boardsies going to the same place next year! (with mr. Longhorns permission of course :pac:)

im going to UL too! biomedical engineering hopeful 425 points so its a bit iffy after the maths paper glad to see tjere is so many going and even gladder theres gonna be so many staying in plassey!!!

My friend does it! Loves it. He's more the accounting side of things though.

As you can see from my name I'm definitely heading to UL! Its gonna be mental! I'm hoping to study Gen Nursing but will probably end up doing Mental Health since the points for General are a bit too high for me. All my choices are there
