If anyone is interested, here's the first article in a series about Ireland's women wrestlers. Part I focuses on Katey Harvey, one of Ireland's rising stars. In her short career she has worked with WWE's Becky Lynch and competed in the first ever women's triple threat and tag team matches in Ireland.

The only 2 women wrestlers I remember from about 10 odd years ago were NWA Ireland's Rebecca Knox and Alex Breslin.
I remember seeing Knox wrestling at my first NWA Ireland show in Donaghmede and was very impressed with her.
Same with Breslin, shame the 2 never got to face each other conisdering the lack of other women wrestlers in the country.
Womens Wrestling has come a long way since then with the likes of Katey Harvey, Kazza, Siren, Lucy and other ladies training and wrestling on shows.
Katey has been very impressive the few times I have had a chance to see her wrestling and Kazza seems to improve every time too.

I'd honestly say she's the best wrestler at FFPW right now. She's a good hard worker and very talented. Kazza is as well. She worked a match against Karl Brien (also very talented as well btw) at an FFPW gym show and it was one of the best intergender matches I'd ever seen.

I got to meet Alex Breslin last year. She's very nice and very professional - as well as being insanely talented

Part II will be focusing on a lady called Danger Dawn who we haven't seen too much of but she's a very good worker

Tickets should be available at the door, although the more presales we have the more we can invest into the production and the more tables we can afford to buy :), so if anyone is going an advance ticket would be best.

Our main event is not confirmed yet as we are still trying to get one big name for the show (no promises), but there will be a Fatal 4 Way for the Irish Junior Heavyweight Championship:

    B. Cool (c) Vs. Sean Maxer Vs. Sammy D Vs. Tucker

Formerly of 'NXT' Luther Ward Vs. 'The Mexican Sensation' El Ligero - In a EXTREME RULES match

    Plus...

'FWF Belgian Tag Champs' Soldiers Of Fortune (Holland/Russia)
'Irish Tag Champs' The Wood Brothers
    '7ft Monster' TRON
    Pollyanna Peppers (United Kingdom)
    Katey Harvey
    Siren
'Former NWA UK Champ' Phil Boyd
    Deadbones Dawkins
    Plus many more..

Gonna be a great show lads.

    Is there anything closer?

sorry, I'm only now getting around to talking about the Liberty Hall show. I was there (obv) and it was brilliant. people on here were talking about a wrestling event in the city centre for ages. this one more than lived up to expectations. The atmosphere at the show was great. I've been to a couple of NLW shows from the Moat Theatre in Naas and I loved the atmosphere there. This was very much the same and I enjoyed it. The set-up looked very professional too. But let's talk about the wrestling

*Phil Boyd vs Captain Deadbones Dawkins. There was no better way to kick off the show. Deadbones Dawkins has had one of the best gimmicks on the Irish scene for ages and now seeing him in front of a packed crowd...they couldn't get enough of him. Phil was very over as a heel too. The crowd were ridiculously into this match and it set the tone for the rest of the night. In addition to the crowd response, the wrestling was quality too. It was back and forth and I just loved every minute of it. Everything an opening match should be really. Phil got the win by cheating but Deadbones hit him with his finisher afterwards anyway

*6-Man Tag Match. This one featured quite the mishmash of Irish talent. The heel team was made up of JDP (PWU), TJ Meehan (IWW) and Dangerous Dave Ford (FFPW) while the face team was Luther Valentine (PWU), Rocky Starr (PWU) and Michael Mayhem (FFPW). With a heel team full of big guys, we got several David vs Goliath type mini-matches. Luther Valentine was probably the standout of the match. He was very over and showed off some nice babyface charisma. His two partners seemed a little on the green and bland side to be honest. The match went on rather long but had a nice little breakdown at the end. Astonishingly enough it was the faces who got the win. I'd expected the big heel team to have this one in the bag. Instead they managed to get the win by frog splashing Dave Ford.

*Soldiers of Fortune vs The Wood Brothers. The first of the international matches of the evening. This one was billed as champions vs champions - Soldiers of Fortune being the champions in Belgium I presume and The Woods as the current Irish tag champions. This was my first time seeing them in action, though I did hear about one of them breaking his jaw in CCW a couple of months ago. Unsurprisingly it's the other brother who has the most ring time. They of course look like miniature Hardy Boyz (suprise suprise they did Poetry in Motion) but also remind me a little of Thunder & Lightning. You can tell they're not as natural in the ring as their opponents, but in a way that helps emphasize them as the underdogs. There's a nifty spot where one brother gets monkey flipped, lands on his feet and tags the other one. After a rather lengthy match breakdown, the Ward Brothers interfere to cause a no contest. El Ligero comes out and we're told they will face each other in an Extreme Rules main event. A double DQ is probably the best way to end this, so as not to make either set of champions look too weak. FFPW knows what's best for business ;)

*B-Cool vs Sammy D vs Tucker vs Sean Maxer. This one was for the Irish Junior Heavyweight Championship. B-Cool and Sammy D played the heels while Maxer and Tucker were the babyfaces. I remember a couple of years ago Sammy D was the first Irish Junior Heavyweight Champion and was a pretty vanilla babyface. Now he's doing a Tallafornia heel gimmick and it's incredible. He was almost giving B-Cool a run for his money in the 'obnoxious heel' department. I've really never seen Sean Maxer play a face before so it was quite the experience. Tucker of course is the big exciting star who's just waiting for a promotion to make him their top guy. So mix these four talents in one match and you get one hell of a show. I can't remember a single spot from it but it blew my mind. It was a runner up for match of the night anyway. In the end it was Tucker who claimed the win and the belt. Which I assume makes him the first northern Irish wrestler to hold the belt. It's well deserved and if Tucker is the champion, FFPW title matches are going to be must-see for the next few months

*Katey Harvey vs Pollyanna Peppers vs Siren. This girls' triple threat was billed as elimination rules. It was interesting to see a foreign female coming to Ireland to work, which can only mean good things for our country's growing women's division. I'm vaguely familiar with Pollyanna's work in the Uk and Japan - and she was as intense as they come. Katey Harvey is quite similar to Sammy D in that years ago I first saw her in a different gimmick. She was a rather generic heel. Now she's a face and it's an obvious better fit. Siren meanwhile is quite new to wrestling but has been a ring announcer and manager on the scene for years. I liked that both faces were unique - Katey was the fiery intense Lita type while Siren was the more cutesy girl next door. Both of them were super over. Siren did well for someone so new to wrestling but she got eliminated as Pollyanna rolled her up and grabbed the tights. But Katey ended up pinning Pollyanna with the Gory Special.

*Tron vs two jobbers. As expected, the 7ft Northern Irish Nightmare made short work of two young looking guys. The match was quite good for what I assumed would be a squash. The two guys put up a decent fight and showed good awareness of ways to try and take the big guy down. Tron certainly moves very well for someone his size. I did get a little distracted by one of the young guys though. He was a guy with a big puffy afro and he spent half the match trying to get his hair out of his eyes. It looked a little unprofessional. Tron dispatched them with a double chokeslam. Afterwards two more guys ran out to make the save...only to get squashed as well. One of the guys I thought was Bam Katraz on some kind of drastic crash diet. The chap also looked like a certain Mr Brooks and even got a "CM Punk" chant from the fans

*Luther Ward vs El Ligero. Holy hell. What a match. Seriously. It had to be seen to be believed. It was pretty much anything you could want out of such an encounter - and much much more. The Wards were insanely over. Despite playing the heels, they had a whole crew of fans cheering them on. The two brothers were ejected from ringside at the start of the match so all the attention was on the two boys. They even brawled backstage for a while. Words can't really describe how amazing it was. It was well worth the ticket price alone. As expected, the Wards ran back out to interfere towards the end. It was the Wood Brothers who made the save (I smell a budding feud). El Ligero dropkicked Luther through a table to get the win and cap off an amazing night

Big thanks to FFPW for putting the show on. It was seriously an amazing experience. And it was announced they'd be back there in October. One can only imagine what a Halloween show would be like
