€50 for me today from a batch which last had a winner on 27 June 2017. Two wins from the last three draws, after a drought of 26 weeks.

You don't say what your investment is so figures don't mean a lot.

The same amount invested for each period. It was more to highlight how the frequency of wins had dropped significantly over the past number of years. I used to have a win every two weeks at one point and now it’s one in 15 weeks.

Nice one, they are always watching 👀

Nada for me this week, and I just invested another few grands worth 😩 glutton for punishment.

I presume you invested this amount because you wanted absolutely no risk and plan to use the money in the short term. At the very least the 3 yr state savings bond would have yielded better results with zero risk.

Yep, plan was to use it fairly quickly, but then got a chance to leave the country for a while. So tis there now till I'm back.
If I had more time, I would have put it somewhere else.......

I don't think so. The Prize Bonds won €500 in the first year, at which point they could have been cashed in. Savings Bonds pay 1% after 3 years, but only 0.05% if they are cashed in after one year. Which would be a return of €50 on €100K.

Have been leaving my money sit in a standard BOI account for too long now. Don't know if I want to really invest or not (seriously) yet, so I took the plunge today and submitted my application for prize bonds. I bought 2 grands' worth to start (a nice round number that's the limit of my debit card in one go), and I'll probably put in another 6-8k when my account is set up and good to go online.

A 10% return over five years?

Our winnings from 2012 give 6.44% on over 100K     if you include the good year of 2011  then the total comes to 9.06%  year 2017 was down to 0.17%

Disappointed? Did you notice the post above you where €100K won €200 in last year. Now, that's disappointing! Payback is very fast - posted mine on a Wed., had the cheque the folowing Monday.

Yeah disappointed. That's what i said alright, disappointed.

My 2k is as much as i could afford, i could care less about someone else's money, about as much as they'd care about mine, this does not change the fact that i'm still disappointed by the low rate of wins per bonds.

anyway, i'm disappointed after over a year.

    Disappointed.

I didn't mean to be smart - just that the return is so tiny - even for those who have lots of prizebonds. But let's hope next week is better for all of us.

Another 50 Euro winner this week, after two last week. None since January before last week.

I was just about to invest 25K in prize bonds - had the forms returned to me for further proof of address and maybe that's a good thing . I am beginning to think it might be a foolish and disappointing investment based on the experience of posters here.

Was beginning to give up hope of ever winning again, then a €50 win for me today

That's nearly 2 months since I've last won, 23rd of Feb

Nothing for us again this week. Last win 2nd February

Its not an investment - it's a place to store cash with a week or 2 withdrawal notice. :p

Nothing for me this week, it's been a looong winter, last win 22nd September 2017.
Did you notice a 4 digit bond 7009 purchased in Co Laois won €50 euro today, I never knew 4 digit bonds existed, gosh it's very old, perhaps purchased in the first week when the first draw took place in March 1957, the purchaser could be gone to a much greater reward where €50 euro doesn't matter anymore.

Oh and Co Fermanagh, the unlucky county, wins nothing AGAIN!!!!

Anyone know how long it takes them to "process" your prize bond application? How do I know when I'm "in the system"? Will I get a letter in the post?

They debitted the money staright out from my account when I paid in the post office, but I was told it'd be a few weeks before I was in the system, or something to that effect. I've also already signed up to the online thingy as well.

    Thanks!

Your bonds will have an issue date on them - probably Fri week in reality.

Stupid question really - I have had prize bonds bought for me as a child but I don't physically know where the receipts/bonds are. All would have been bought in the same address (Current) . Is there a way to find out how many bonds I have in my name?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭Gumbi

Thanks, I'll have to check the receipt I have. I was waiting for some kind of confirmation by letter so that I can go ahead and start buying more online as soon as it's possible.

Won't be on the receipt - the issue date will be on the bonds which you'll receive in the post.
