Yup dura ace blocks took an age to bite in the wet. Exactly as seamus said, nothing then the sound of rubber on metal and the stopping power kicked in. Enough to give you a heart attack a few times over.

To be honest it wouldnt just be confined to Ultegra blocks it was the fact that we hadnt really needed to use brakes full on since we left greystones and the rubber had become solid with the cold/rain and took a few scary moments to heat up the blocks and soften the rubber under friction and then they just ...WORKED

Just corrected that using elevation correction button, closer to your total now....

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/91967892

still confused though as i thought there was alot more climbing in Carrick Wheelers Spin previous week, but not according to Garmin

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/90752895

My altitude corrected WW200 comes in at 2800m - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/92200385 some pretty wild variations between most of the GPS data I have seen.

There's an awful lot of short up and downs in the WW200 which register each time as altitude gained, the Carrick spin the previous week probably contained more sustained climbing and that probably made it feel like more.

The gent on the right is exactly who I was talking about in the below. Sounds like the lads had their work cut out for them, but I'm sure anyone they happened upon was very glad to be found.
And he also used his trackpump to inflate my mates backwheel after the 2nd puncture,a true gentleman!!Thanks.

I fiddled about with the published times on the website and included the check in times for Donard and Rathdrum. There were 572 matching records for 200k riders where there was a recorded start time, a recorded check in time at both stops and a recorded finish time (subject to any errors I may have made in transferring, filtering and sorting the data). Obviously there were many more finishers so any claims made below have to be seen in that light. I attach the file for anyone who is interested. The times are calculated from the initial check in - I haven't broken down the sectionals but feel free to do that and post it back up.

Myself and pprendeville were third quickest to Donard (the purest calculation as it excludes time at the stops ;) ), eighth quickest from the start to Rathdrum (we hung around at Donard far too long - did you really need to change your socks, Phil ;) ) but slipped to 38th by the finish (that's what four punctures between us in 65 odd k did - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!).

Going by your stats, my run is as follows, I had no punctures and stopped for about 15mins at each stop.

    Donard - 03:31:26 (57th)
    Rathdrum - 06:32:32 (60th)
    Finish - 09:08:16 (59th)

Given the conditions 572 may not be too far off the mark for those doing the 200

I would guess a lot of the 2,500 or so registered didn't turn up (or did the course on Saturday:rolleyes:), and the majority probably opted for the 100 on the day

Pretty good going regardless - you'll both be raring to go in the Swords League race tomorrow night;)

    Good numbers there MWAP

However, there are some really dodgy looking times for the Rathdrum to finish leg. If you work out the final leg splits some of them are coming in at under 2 hours. Taking an average speed of 19.5mph for the last leg still gives 1:52 which I don't beleive anybody did, particularly since those with times around this are much slower up to that point.

Doesn't real mean anything I suppose, just thought I'd say

Aye, there's a good few folk there who went straight on instead of following the course over the last few digs, looking at their sector 3 times in comparison to 1 & 2.

Some of my crew who shall remain nameless, went direct from Rathdrum to Glenealy & that was after one of them avoiding SE as well.

Thanks for that MWAP, I'm always a nerd for timing. Top 25% to Donard, top 30% overall. I'll definitely take that for my first W200 :)
Could even have been faster on the Donard leg, but I was taking it easy and was held up by groups.

Was also a bit O_o that the official times were an hour off my rolling time, but considering that I know I left my parents at midday and I clocked into Donard at 11:30, I must have faffed about there for at least half an hour. Didn't feel like it.

The splits show it for me actually. Barely in the top 50% of the field for the trip to Rathdrum. Need more climbing work :)

Some debris I found today at that bridge on the descent from Sally Gap.

If anyone lost the Bell helmet part I'll be happy to post it back to you.

Think the STI lever came of a SRAM red groupset. Ouch. Not sure what the red thing is off. Sunglasses maybe?

More photos being added during the day on the official site - over 450 in there now! Can't figure out where they were taken though. A mate who did the 100 appears in them, so I wonder was it maybe only earlier in the day when they were taken? On the 200 route the only photographers I can recall were at Sally Gap and at the last roundabout at the end of the day! Was there anyone elsewhere?

Thought on Sunday my front brake was very slow at stopping but that down to the weather until I went for a spin this morning and thought the same and looked at the pads only to find the 2 of them were completely worn away. Pads were only changed in September and didnt get that much use over the winter or spring.

Holy god. If I checked in and headed off, judging by those times I would have been in top 50. Waited half hour at start for some lads before heading off. Next time I'll know better. Happy in fact very happy with that

Can we DNA test it? It might be a bit of my brother's arse. He was the first to crash there and left most of it on the road.:)
